All,

it's been a long time, but we're having a z390 developers meeting again.

We'll be discussing the status quo and development plans for z390.

Hope to see you there!

Kind regards & happy programming,
Abe Kornelis

All, we've had a good meeting earlier this week. we're resuming maintenance activities, and are planning to resume meetings roughly once a month. we're much anticipating the new PoP. I'll keep you all posted on progress. Happy Programming to all of you!

I had a good time playing with this a few years ago and noticed that it basically stagnated after Dan Higgins retired. On a whim I decided to see if anything was happening. So this is exciting news.

Sorry if this is a dumb question... but what's a PoP?

The Principles of Operation - the book that names all instructions of the machine (and a lot more): https://www.vm.ibm.com/library/other/22783213.pdf

Hi Bill,

it's the official IBM publication detailing the behaviour of each instruction, how memory is organized (logically) etcetera. Since the arrival of zArchitecture IBM have published versions 00 through 13. Version 14 for the z17 is expexted June, 18th.

I am currently working to build support for all optable() and machine() assembler options. Adding support for all the newer instructions would be nice, but there's only so much one can do after work and family matters...

kind regards & happy programming!
Abe Kornelis.

Thank you. I'm aware of the book, I guess the term didn't register with me. It's been a long time since I did this on a daily basis.

Sorry I mistakenly referred to Don Higgins as Dan Higgins
