ESD in object files

Does anyone who understands this know the answer?

I updated PDLD to treat the text record address as relative to the SD/PC symbol referenced by ESD identifier only if it is not the same as the value of the SD/PC symbol what fixed the problem and both MVS and z390 mvssupa.obj work now.

I am confused by the difference though: why would z390 mean the text record address as relative to the symbol while MVS always treats it as relative to the beginning of the section?

I can probably get an example if required.
