All,
To my regret and dismay
I found that I have miscalculated
the time adjustment due to DST in the USA.
My sincere apologies to those who tried to join without success.
John Ganci and Larry
Simmons had announced
they would not join.
Dan Greiner, Zane Hambly, and Abe Kornelis were present.
We discussed the status
of zCobol. The NIST test suite
has been reconstructed with reasonable confidence.
We are able to compile all programs. The list of errors
is rather large, but at least we have a basis for further
improvement. Zane has a change in the works to
implement SEARCH, and another one for implementing
STRING and UNSTRING.
Abe has continued
efforts to provide proper comments
to enable javadoc to generate documentation in html format.
That process is slowly nearing its end.
(which will be a relief, honestly)
The effort to revive
regression tests that never made it
into the current set of regression testing scripts is
stalled for lack of time/priority.
Abe and Zane are
looking into the zVSAM v2 design
documents that were created roughly 8 years ago.
Currently we're mainly picking up what was created
back then to see if we can pick up where the project
was abandoned then.
Abe offered to work
with Dan to help him get started
with git/github and the z390 java codebase.
We also discussed
porting efforts for assembler G
and the MVS 3.8 Cobol compiler. Both suffer from the
use of access method services that are not supported
in the z390 runtime execution logic.
That's all for this
month - hope to see you next time!
Abe
