Hi Max,

first thanks for making the program available.

I was able to start an experiment and it seems to work.
However, I used a workaround as I ran into trouble with filezilla (I transferred necessary files in an alternative way). The authentication failed even though I entered the information correctly. In particular, I used the new password, i.e. the same that I use to login to the virtual box. (can you also tell me how to change the password?).

Furthermore, I want to do the following for testing ztree in a bigger environment, i.e. in my Behavioural Finance Course. Setup: Zoom meeting with say 100 students, who participate in a call market experiment such that 10 subjects are in one asset market. I wonder what the best way is to do it: can I start several ztree at once? If not, I can use channels; is it possible to have links dedicated to channels?

Best, Sascha

Hi Sascha,

1. Hm. Are you using umlauts or other special characters? Perhaps try a password only containing alphanumeric characters.

2. You can change the password by invoking "passwd" in the "Terminal Emulator".

3. Currently, running several sessions at once is not possible. For that you would need to run several VMs at the same time. I'm not sure whether zTu is really promising for classroom experiments. On an orthogonal note, I assume that you already use ztu-singlelink?

Best,

Max

Please right-click on your VM in VirtualBox -> "Settings…" -> "Network". Is the "Adapter Type" NAT? If not, why?

If so, "Advanced" -> "Port Forwarding" should show you the following port forwarding:

SSH, TCP, (empty), 60022, (empty), 22

Yes, it is possible. I have done so, although only using my "Thin" server approach. I also recommend using multiple computers.

Anyways, if you don't use a "Thin" server, you need to create several distinct port forwardings to inside the VM. It's not trivial but it can be done and has been done by some people that I know.

No, I mean in principle it sounds great. However, note that zTu hasn't really been tried with huge interactive experiments that depend a lot on instantaneous decisions. Not sure whether any other platform might give you a better experience.

It's the following: https://gitlab.com/cler1/ztu-singlelink
Basically, it's a sessionwide link, so you don't need to give a unique link to each subject individually.

Max
