incorrect password

Hello all,

I have never encountered this problem before but suddenly the virtual box shows incorrect password. Is there a way to set up a new password? It's a little time sensitive. I would appreciate any help. Thank you.

This is unfortunately quite involved and requires the use of a "Live" CD image, e.g. of Arch Linux, to root into the system and run passwd or to replace the /etc/passwd file.

Are you sure you're using the right keyboard layout on your host machine?

Hi Max,

You are right, it was the keyboard issue. Somehow my external keyboard didn't work quite well. Thank you for your help! In case this happens due to some other reason, do you suggest just reinstalling the virtual box?

Probably, yes. However, a Linux aficionado can certainly fix the whole situation. But they're pretty in demand these days…
