Problem mit Apple TCP

Hallihallo,
meine Frau hat einen alten Quadra 950 unter MacOS D1-7.5.5, Revision 2.
Eines der Kontrollfelder heißt MacTCP, Version ist D1-2.0.6.
Obwohl eine im Netz gültige IP-Adresse vergeben wurde, ist der Mac nicht
über ping ansprechbar.
Ein Transveiver ist angeschlossen, der Switch zeigt auch einen Link mit 10
MBit/s an.
Eine Analyse mit ethreal (Linux und Windoof) hat ergeben, dass, wenn ich das
Kontrollfeld "Netzwerk" von Appletalk auf Ethertalk umstelle, der Mac dann
entsprechende Pakete aussendet (Apple Braodcast, AARP zur Ermittlung der
eigenen Netzadresse, DDP für Zoneinfos).
Die Karte funktioniert also ganz offensichtlich, nur TCP/IP bekomme ich
nicht ans Laufen:-(
Was mache ich falsch?

my wife got an old Quadra 950 with MacOS D1-7.5.5, rev.2 running.
One of the control panels named MacTCP, ver. D1-2.0.6.
Despite there is a valid IP-address in tehese settings, the Mac doesn't
respond to pings.
The transceiver is connected, on the switch there is a 10 Mb-link displayed.
I tested the Mac with ethreal (linux and windows):
If I change the control panel "netzwerk" (network) from Appletalk to
Ethertalk, the MAc is sending some packets (Apple Broadcasts, AARP, DDP).
Apparently the NIC is working, but I cannot get TCP/IP running:-(
Did I make any mistake?
Who can help me?
