Serotek’s Key to Freedom Means FreedomBox Anywhere

Serotek Corporation announced today that it is accepting orders for its
revolutionary Key to Freedom™, a key-chain-sized memory module, based on
M-Systems DiskOnKey™ technology, that plugs directly into the USB port of
any Windows-based computer and converts it instantly into a personal
FreedomBox. The Key to Freedom means that FreedomBox Network users can have
immediate access to their FreedomBox Network account, from anywhere – giving
accessibility a whole new dimension.
Key to Freedom incorporates new advanced voice technologies from FlexVoice™.
FlexVoice is the text-to-speech (TTS) technology from Mindmaker that
delivers natural sounding, flexible, synthesized speech that is highly
intelligible yet requires remarkably low memory resources. FlexVoice and
other software enhancements reduce the memory requirements of FreedomBox
software, which means Key to Freedom will have room for your personal files
as well.
The, slim, key chain-sized Key to Freedom is seen by the host computer as
just another disk. You slip off the protective cover, and plug it directly
into the USB port of any computer using Windows 98 or above. When
configured, the personal computer recognizes the device, loads the client
software and, if the computer has a dial-up or broadband connection, you are
online in seconds. With later release Windows computers (Windows ME,
Windows 2000, Windows XP home and pro) everything you need is fully
contained in the Key-to-Freedom. Windows 98 users must download a USB
device driver from www.freedombox.info, load it and reboot before the key
will be recognized. After installation of this driver, the host computer is
your FreedomBox. When you’re finished and unplug the Key to Freedom, all
traces of FreedomBox vanish from the system. The computer will retain the
downloaded USB device driver. There are no residual registry entries or
other changes to disrupt normal system operation. Coming soon, you will be
able to download e-mail and other files to your Key-to-Freedom and take them
with you for later processing and use. You can even plug Key-to-Freedom
into a suitably configured Personal Digital Assistant. That’s as portable
as it gets!
Best of all, you have access to the FreedomBox Network. FreedomBox Network
is the world’s most accessible Web portal, providing information,
entertainment, e-mail, chat, shopping and more using FreedomBox’s unique
Flexible User Interface™ (FUI). FreedomBox’s FUI allows users full command
and control of the Internet using any combination of voice, video, keyboard,
mouse, IST switch (infrared/sound/touch) and/or other input/output device
that best serves the member’s particular access needs.

FreedomBox Network has assembled the world’s most complete content offering
focused on the needs of the blind and disabled community and providing them
a voice in important political, social, and economic issues. FreedomBox
Network gives members a change to speak out to each other, and to the world
at large. “When we speak with one voice,” says Mike Calvo, Serotek’s CEO,
“people, business, and government listen.”

“The Key to Freedom is one more step in fulfilling the FreedomBox True
Freedom Initiative,” says Calvo. “We are committed to universal
accessibility. We intend to stay on the leading edge, using the latest and
most innovative technologies to make the Internet and the powerful services
it provides, accessible to everyone, from anywhere. With the Key to Freedom
you can be online in minutes at libraries, cyber cafes, schools, nursing
homes, computers that belong to friends or family members – any place there
is a computer and a connection.”
The Key to Freedom is available for shipment. The price is only $199, but
for a limited time you can purchase a Key to Freedom for just $149(128 MB
version.) Some restrictions apply. Please check our website or call for
