Question about automatically adding characters to scenes.

Under the characters tab, is this option a toggle? On or off? I selected it hoping it would solve a problem, but instead it added characters that really weren't active in the scene. I can see how this would be useful for a future project, but not for my current one.

It scans the scene and if it finds any named character, it adds that character to the character list

It cannot tell the difference between a character who is active or just mentioned once.

It does help later when revising, as you can see if someone is mentioned in a scene and then go and check what was said about them and whether it's still relevant.
