I know I've done it before, but I'm trying to move a scene to another chapter and it just won't do it. I'm dragging the scene over to the chapter I want it to be in. Nothing happens. Is this not the way to do it?

I read in a thread that you can use the Storyboard, but once I moved a scene to another chapter, leaving that one with zero scenes, that chapter doesn't even appear in the Storyboard, so I can't move a scene to that chapter that way.

Thanks for your help!

In the main program screen, with the chapters on the left and the scenes on the right, you should be able to drag and drop a scene from one chapter to another.  A chapter has to be in existence in order to move scenes to it.

Hope that helps.

As for the storyboard, I don't use it because it doesn't work the way I'd like it to.  If I click on a scene I want to move, I lose the view of the timeline as a whole.  Release the button and it comes back.  Simon?

Thanks for answering so quickly. That's exactly what I'm doing, but nothing's happening. I closed yWriter and reopened, but that didn't change anything. I suppose I can restart the computer...

Monica,

Which operating system are you running on?  People have reported bugs on non-Windows boxes that Simon has had some trouble fixing, plus I think there have been issues on Windows 8.1 that don't occur on Win 7.

Of course, maybe all you need is a reboot, like you said.

It works fine on my 64 bit Win 8.1 box but even if you're running Win 7 or 32 bit Win 8.x a lot can depend on how your OS has been set up as well. OTH if you're running a Linux box with Wine or VMware, etc, that's a different ball game again.

Regards

Carl

I struggled with this same problem until I realized that I needed to grab the scene by the icon on the left, not the scene name. Scene editor must be closed, too. I use both WinXP and Win7 machines. Others' mileage may vary.
