User Interface Font in latest Alpha

Hi all -

Just loaded the latest Alpha (7.1.6.4) and the UI font is set at 14 pt. I change it but it doesn't stay changed. 

Anyone else?

Same/similar problem in current Beta 7.1.6.5

I've just uploaded Alpha 7.1.6.7 which hopefully will fix this.

As usual with an alpha, back up your project before using (just in case)

No joy. 

It is repeatedly defaulting back to System Font 'Segoe UI 10.25. '

I can't see the font name in 7.1.6.5 Beta but opening different projects in 7.1.6.5 and 7.1.6.7 alpha look the same, so seems like it is still stuck on the system default.

I wonder if it's because you don't have any of the other fonts installed?  Some of them date back to Windows XP or earlier and might not be present in Windows 10/11/etc.

Sorry, still the same. 

I'm attaching the log file. 

Here's what I did:

Open the Alpha version

Change font to Arial

Change font size from 14 to 10

Close

Reopen - no change

According to the log, that's still 7.1.6.7 but the latest Alpha (with the fix) should be 7.1.6.8

I cleaned out the alpha folder and re-downloaded from the website this morning. 

App still reporting as 7.1.6.7.

I just downloaded the latest alpha and it's still saying it's 7.1.6.7.

The most recent modified date in the zip file is 5/25/2026 and the top line in the included yWriter7_details.txt is:

7.1.6.7 ALPHA Some changes to the UI font override code.

Downloaded and installed this morning. 

It reports as 7.1.6.8:

06:45:43 -----------------------------------

On startup, font size looks right.  (good)

It holds changes to font sizes between sessions. (good)

Font changes to MS San Serif and Arial Unicode MS default back to Segoe UI. Changes to TNR or Tahoma stick.  (better)

Font size of font size dialog is still 14 point (nit pick or maybe intentional?).

Certainly a workable update. Thanks!!

Glad it's working.

Not sure why the font select dialog is 14, but that's a form from my library dll so maybe it doesn't apply scaling. (The 'check for update' window might do the same.)

Turns out I'd just set the font size dialog to segoe ui, 12pt instead of 10pt.  I've standardised it at 10.
