I recently exported several chapters and had them proofed by someone
else. When I imported the chapters back in (after checking the
corrections...love the record changes options in word processors) I
discovered that all of the blank lines after my paragraphs had been
removed. Is there a easy way to readd these? I like having the blank
line after a paragraph (yes I had put them manually in as I wrote) it is
easier for me to read/write. Everything feels "mushed" together without
them. :/

If you use Word you can do it with Find and Replace. If you click More
in the dialogue, you'll see a Special button, and that lets you add
strings for special characters like paragraph markers (in fact, the
string for it is ^p). So it's find ^p and replace with ^p^p. (This works
in Word 2003, at least).

Well, the reason I am having this issue is word (well open office in
this case, but they are peaty much cut from the same cloth) removed my
extra lines. While that is wanted in the final formating before
uploading..it isn't now. Sure I can readd them with word, but they will
likely be re-removed again as I didn't tell it to remove them in the
first place).

While there is a method to search and remove via regular expression in
open office, there does not seem to be a method for adding another blank
line. I have found a lot of posts/pages regarding this around the net
removing, but not adding them.

There is a way to change it via spacing of course, but that change won't
translate over to Ywriter (I have already tried).

Ok after a bit of digging I found this method:

-Go into open office writer
-open document in question
-do select all (ctrl-a)
-edit menu, find
-put $ for search
-put \n for replace
-click more options
-check "only selection"
-check "regular expressions"
-click replace all

That will add a second break after every paragraph mark. But then save
as rtf format then import into ywriter.

BUT of course the extra spaces throws off the tag system so ywriter has
a fit and refuses to do so. :/

So far the only way I have found is to do it one chapters/scene at a
time via cutting and pasting into open office change the paragraphs
(don't need to do the regular expressions just the global spaces after
paragraphs work in this case) then copy and paste it back into ywriter
via the scene editor.

I should think opening in the default rtf editor to do this would be easier than
doing the cutting and pasting.
