In the publishing world, book printing is usually prepared with the help of DTP software, such as InDesign or Quark XPress. To easily bring a novel manuscript with text markup into a book layout, there is the "XPress Tags" format for QX. I have written a Python script that can export yWriter projects as a whole in this format.

Unlike importing Word files, where QX 2015 crashed on my PC occasionally, this method has worked robustly so far.

So if there are any QX users among you, they might want to take a look at this:

Hi,
Is there an example of QuarkXpress file generated by the script ?

Mike,

to avoid misunderstandings: My script does not create a whole QXP book project, but an XTG file that can be imported into a text frame of the book layout provided by the user. The design of this XTG file depends heavily on the yw2xtg.ini configuration file and the customizing of the chapter/scene templates in the yw2xtg subfolder.

Test data, which includes the sample yWriter project as well as the configuration file/templates and the XTG conversion result, can be seen here on GitHub:

Cheers,
Peter
