I've managed to break the original content down into pages, and formatted all the html by hand. There's still a lot of tidying up to do but at least it's online again.

Cheers

Can anyone answer these question for me?

Let me preface this by saying that I'm an older lady who's somewhat tech savvy, but not extremely. I've been using yWriter 6 for several years and I'm familiar enough with it to do the basics. I've been wondering if I should upgrade to yWriter 7? Are there major advantages to the newer version?

And if I do upgrade, how do I get my computer to open my existing projects in version 7 as opposed to version 6? I seem to remember I had that problem when going from 5 to 6 and I don't remember how I handled that.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi - you can install yWriter7 and 6 at the same time.  When running the installer, I'm pretty sure it asks if you want to associate yw5/6/7 files with that version, and if you say NO it will keep loading them in yWriter6

Then you can run yWriter7, start a new empty project and play around with the software to see whether it's usable for you.

Later on, if you want to use yWriter7 by default, you can run the installer again and this time click YES to associate all the project files

Cheers

Hi Sue, I am not a tech-savvyy person either and remember delaying for a long time upgrading to yWriter7 from 6 - however as Simon says there is an option to associate files made in previous versions with yWriter7, and if you choose not to yWriter is so easy to simply reinstall as he said if you want to change the setting later.

I believe I copied my yWriter6 files to a second folder before associating the original projects with yWriter7 just as a precaution - and never needed to re-refer to those copied files again because I had no issues with yWriter7 whereas I had a crash with yWriter6 under Windows 11 (the reason why I decided to upgrade to 7 in the first place)
