Happy 2010!
Am I not just shamefully bad at communication? And here I'm an author-- wow!
It's been since September 21, 2008 (yes, you read that correctly) since the last
edition of Desert Ramblings. What was I waiting for? Well, news! And yes, I
finally have some. In fact, there's such an important thing in here that I'm going
to send a Vol. 5a out tomorrow. Why? Because it will have a very important
link in it that I'm hoping a lot of people will want to know about.
The News Section
I sold not one, but TWO novels! Wheeeee! Pocket/Juno Books will be
publishing HIGHBORN, my novel about a fallen angel seeking redemption
among the humans, in September of this year. At that same time, I'll be turning
in the completed second novel of the contract, CONCRETE SAVIOR, which
continues the storyline. These are Books 1 and 2 of THE DARK
REDEMPTION SERIES.
To make these really fun, I'm putting up an eBay auction tomorrow. What's that
have to do with writing novels, you ask? (Of course you asked that.) It has to
do with this:
Be a Character in my next novel, CONCRETE
SAVIOR!
The auction, which will run for 10 days, will be for me to use someone's name
as a character in the book. Full details will be on the auction page, which is
why I'll be sending out the super-short Desert Ramblings - Vol. 5a tomorrow, as
soon as I upload the info on eBay.
So there you go. Let the fun begin!
The Personal Stuff Department
Uh... well. Not much has changed. Still loving it down here in Arizona. The
husband and family are good. The Great Danes are big. The birds (note the
plural there) are noisy. The day job is... the day job (been there going on seven
years now... ::gasp::).
I am still working toward a Fine Arts degree, on top of everything else. Just got
finished with a Geology class (which I adored) and a painting class. Those who
know me also know I have artistic yearnings, with an old history of drawing
(even sold some pencil drawings to small press magazines, "back in the day")
and an even older history of pastel work. I had a fantastic time with the painting
class and am still working with acrylics. In fact, I liked it so much I now have a
studio with two easels, enormous amounts of paint in numerous colors, and
canvases ranging from small to quite large. And oh, the great and grand plans I
have! If you'd like to see some of what I created during that art class, go to the
Facebook url below. There's an entire art section in the photos on my FB page.
That covers it -- not too long. Look for Vol. 5a tomorrow. Again, Happy New
Year and thanks for reading!
Yvonne
