Namaste!!
I apologize for such a delayed response or update
about the location that we had discussed over Hindu
Sangham. As many of us, I too was very occupied with
finals blended into my air, food and sight. I hope
everyone did great!

I spoke to Pandit Gadahara Dasa from ISKCON in regards
to a location for Shakha and he gave me approval to
conduct Shakha at his Mandir/ Ashram in downtown
Manhattan (1st Ave & 1st St.) He did also provide a
set of guidelines or requests about the use of the
location which we have to consider and discuss.

The Mandir thats available to us is generally a very
quiet and spiritualized atmosphere and he requested
that the physical activities that we hold not be very
aggressive and more importantly loud.
Something that I was a little skeptical was about was
the space that we have available. The length is more
than enough ( about 20-25 footsteps) the width, I
think would be a little too narrow and we may have to
adjust to it (6 footsteps wide).

Pandit ji is also very generous in the fact that he
will let us use their location for absolutely free of
cost. If I remember correcty ( I will confirm this
later), but the days that he did have available were
Tuesday and Thursday in the evening. He was also
hoping, and I think it is a great idea that he also be
able to participate in our baudhik and charcha
sessions during which he is able to provide an insight
about the Hindu perspective about a lot of issues that
American youth face. I've spoken to Pandit ji a lot of
times and unarguably he has a very good understanding
of the teenage mindframe and everything he says are
words of gold, not to mention they make me feel more
proud to be a Hindu after every conversation I've had
with him. I did not however promise him any such
commitment in that regard.

Feedback?? Ideas? Suggestions? Agreements/
Disagreements? We've been very dull in the past few
months folks. Kick it up a notch! Its a New Year!!!

Namaste,

As most of us know, the location for the Manhattan Shakha has been finalized.
I believe the day and time for the Shakha will be on Thursdays from 7:00-8:30PM if I'm not mistaken.
The first Shakha will be on February 8th?

Gauri ji, can you please confirm these things and send out the address of the Shakha as well.

I believe it would be good if we can have a conference call to get the planning underway atleast for the Sharirik and Baudhik activities for the first four weeks of the Shakha.  We can also discuss other things such as if it is realistically possible to have a small Sewa project sometime within the first month of the Shakha.

Here's what was planned at the Yuva Varg (this list might have to be restructured a bit):

Responsibilities:
Sharirik- Gauri, Manoj, Suraj
Baudhik- Piyush, Rudra, Manu
Sewa- Rahul, Nimit

Would this Thursday evening be a good time for everyone for the conference call?  Maybe around 9:15PM?
Reply back so I can know if I should book this time or not.

Namaste,

The address of the shakha location is: 219 Sullivan Street NY, NY 10012. The first shakha will
be on Thursday,
Feb. 8th from 7:00 to 830.

The time for the conference call sounds good to me!

Gauri

Namaste,

Great to hear that the location for shakha has been confirmed.
Unfortunately, I am out of country till 12 Feb and will be missing out the
conference call and the first shakha. All the best to the team.
