We have a new shakha on the Univ of Miami Campus - thanks to Ankita ji and Atindra ji.

THis is the second yuva shakha on campus in the southeast sambhag. We are also already working on a 3rd on campus of Univ of Georgia.

            For the first time, a shakha was held on University of Miami Coral Gables campus on November 3^rd, 2006 from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Two meetings were held to prepare for successively conducting the shakha. In the first meeting, three karyakartas showed up as it was on a day’s notice. Therefore it was postponed to the next day. The second meeting was a progression, as three additional people were there, making a total sankhya of six. The meeting started with a geet, and went on as we discussed the schedule and the responsibility of different people.

            After brief planning and calling several people, the sankhya of the first shakha conducted was five. Also this was a homecoming weekend, as of which many people were unable to come. The shakha was conducted in open grounds, but now we have a room that is pretty convenient in size. We started with a geet by Atindra Shuklaji, followed by suryanamaskar by Dinesh Chanchalaniji, and games and prarthana by Ankita Mishra.

            If something was to be improved, it would be more in-depth planning. For the outreach, in the beginning a big event should be done, of course with free food, in which people are able to see concrete results of what they will actually gain by coming to shakha as well get familiarized with its atmosphere. To get more sankhya, right now our plan is to go in different Hindu related organization and basically advertise it emphasizing on the yoga aspect of it.
