Not rendering underscores as expected

I'm using yuml me to render diagrams of a database using the class diagram.  I've noticed that if the name of a class object contains 2 underscores, then the underscores are not rendered.  Example:

[schema.table_name_1 {bg:tomato}]->[schema.table_name_2 {bg:tomato}]

Renders with no underscores at all.  If I remove a single underscore from a name, then the other underscore does render.

Is  this a bug, or is there some detail of the markdown that I need to understand?
