“Can’t take it easy,” Reimu mumbled to herself. As she made her way back home, she saw gazed at the devastation around her. Once a vibrant forest was reduced to a husk of its former self. Reimu blamed herself for it not being able to take it easy. Mostly she belonged to the yukkuri clan that caused its destruction.

The clan made its home in the middle of the forest. Most likely unintentionally as most of the yukkuri here had a horrible sense of distance. Reimu was descend with distance, but not as versed as a typical human.

Once inside, she greeted every yukkuri she passed. Not because she liked most them. It was a mandatory rule from the Dosu leading them. Certain yukkuri replied with much harsher responses, showing distant towards Reimu for various reason.

Reimu disliked being a Reimu as she knew her type was the most common among the yukkuri types. Marisa was the second most common. Commonality aside, another thing she disliked about her kind was the arrogance bad Reimus displayed. She knew a few only desired to have little ones for the sake of seeing more of themselves. Any non-Reimu little ones were ignored or worse.

Marisas, at the bad ones, were no better. They often bragged about being great hunters, but rarely did they manage to catch anything. Only smart and nice Marisas were successful. They even caught a rabbit once thanks for Patchoulis thinking of a plan and Alices giving design directions.

Of course, they had their own problems. The bad Patchoulis claimed to be sages. The bad Alices were willing to refresh with any yukkuri; especially if the yukkuri was unwilling. Reimu disliked the bad yukkuri. She disliked herself more.

After entering her room, she shut the makeshift door behind her. It was nothing but dried grass and twigs, but it gave her a sense of privacy. In this clan, privacy was a rare commodity. As she sat on her bed, also made of grass, she tried going to sleep. It was the middle of the day, but she felt exhausted from maintaining her failing garden. It was going to take the Big Easy soon. Thus, wasting all the time and effort she placed into making it.

Just as she felt into slumber, a sudden loud noise interrupted it. Looking at her room’s entrance, she saw her friend, Marisa, had barged in… again…

“Please forgive Marisa’s intrusion easy ze~!” the witchy pastry shouted, trying to sound more noble and respectful than she was.

“Go away easy, Marisa. Reimu’s Mr. Day is already taking it uneasy.”

“Sorry about that ze~. Marisa just wanted to see if Reimu was taking it easy ze~.”

Reimu rolled her eyes. She knew Marisa was telling the truth, but her method was too uncouth to be useful.

Marisa let out a sigh as she moved closer. “Reimu, there might be a way to save your Mr. Garden.”

Reimu placed a braid in front of her mouth. “Shh! Don’t say it so loud, Marisa! It’s supposed to be a Mr. Secret!”

“Oops ze~!” Marisa covered her own mouth with her braid. “Sorry about that ze~.”

“Not like it matters. Reimu has given up easy.”

Marisa looked at her friend sympathetically before proceeding with her previous statement, only with less gusto. “Yuuka ze~. Marisa could find a Yuuka ze~. They’re great at gardening ze~.”

“Thanks for the Mr. Suggestion, Marisa, but it’s too late. Not even a Yuuka could save it.”

“Please pardon Alice’s city sect Mr. Intrusion!”

Reimu looked placed Marisa and at the Alice that had entered. “Another?”

Alice looked at Reimu lovingly. “Alice would have knock-knocked on Mr. Door, but Alice doesn’t have a Mr. Braid.” She looked back at the entrance away. “Then again, it seems like Mr. Door is taking the Big Easy.”

Instead of giving a sarcastic remark, Reimu looked at Marisa sourly. Marisa looked away as she whistled badly (even by yukkuri standards). Alice, despite being so-so at basic math, put 2 and 2 together. “Again! Marisa is such a country bumpkin.”

Marisa faced Alice before tipping her hat, pretending to take the insult as a compliment. Alice refused to play along. She, instead, spoke with Reimu about something important. “Dosu is going to start the annual Mr. Meeting soon.”

“Annual?” Reimu parroted. “Dosu does it whenever she wants!”

“There’s a Mr. Joke in there, but Marisa refuses to say it ze~.”

Alice thought about it before making a shocking realization. “Marisa better not. There’re little ones nearby!”

“Not Marisa’s problem ze~.”

“What’s the Mr. Meeting about?”

“A few minutes ze~.”

Reimu glared at Marisa for making such a terrible joke. She then turned to Alice, who also disliked the failed attempt at a joke. “It’s going to be about the Mr. Munch-Munch problem.”

“Figures,” Reimu sighed. “This Mr. Clan doomed itself, and Reimu doubts Dosu is smart enough to dissolve it into smaller Mr. Groups.”

“Alice agrees.”

“Marisa agrees.”

“Patchouli agrees.”

The three looked at Patchouli, who entered with them noticing. She glanced at the three before saying, “Mukyu! Did Patchouli interrupt something easy?”

“Patchouli shouldn’t barge into someone else’s house easy ze~.”

Reimu wanted to smack Marisa for being a hypocrite but knew it would solve nothing. Marisa was too dense for it to knock any sense into her.

“Anyway,” Patchouli said, “the Mr. Meeting is going to happen tomorrow, near Mr. Noon.”

“Does Dosu even know what Mr. Noon is?” Reimu questioned.

“No. But her Ms. Advisers do… sort of…”

Reimu rolled her eyes. The advisers were Dosu’s most trusted yukkuri, despite only giving bad advice. She figured Dosu liked them as she had scapegoats to put her terrible decisions on instead of taking responsibility for them.

“In any case, if the Mr. Discussion is going where Patchouli believes it will go, we should get going as well.”

“City sect idea, Patchouli!”

“Mukyu. Thanks, Alice.”

“Just kiss-kiss already ze~!” Marisa joked. Her friends, although aware of the joke, glared at her.

“Thanks for the Mr. Info. But now,” Reimu inhaled, “GET OUT OF REIMU’S MR. ROOM EASY!” She then flung the three pastries out, one by one.

Some of the nearby yukkuri stopped and watched the spectacle. They went on their way as the trio regrouped.

“That went well ze~.”

Alice glowered at Marisa. “If Alice had a Mr. Braid, Alice would have smacked Marisa.”

“Mukyu. Patchouli is a Ms. Lover, not a Ms. Fighter.”

“Not like Patchouli could hurt Marisa with a smack-smack ze~.”

“Touché.”

Marisa looked at her rear end with being confused. “What about it ze~?”

Patchouli and Alice simply left, not wanting to add to Marisa’s joke. Reimu, in the meanwhile, made a new door to replace the one Marisa ruined. She knew Marisa was going to ruin it tomorrow, so it was not the best she could make. There was no point in making something of quality if it was only going to last for about a day.

The next day, as Reimu entered the meeting chamber, she looked at the clan’s leader: a Marisa Dosu. She was big. The adult yukkuri around her were about basketball sized. The little ones, koyukkuri, were about the size of golf balls. Dosu was about 6 feet tall and wide. Despite having so much paste within her, she was barely smarter than the average yukkuri.

“Is everyone here ze~?” Dosu shouted, not losing the Marisa tic. She looked around, making sure every single one of her clanmates were attending this all too important (her delusion) meeting. “Well, whether everyone is here or not doesn’t matter to Dosu ze~. Dosu simply wants to tell everyone about Dosu’s super perfect plan ze~.”

Reimu frowned as she heard the term ‘super perfect’ being used. She knew it was going to be the exact opposite.

“Dosu knows the Mr. Munch-Munch isn’t taking it easy with its kind and noble masters ze~. It decided to be with the horrible and inferior Mr. Humans ze~.”

Various yukkuri chattered among themselves, showing their disdain towards humans. A few, like Reimu, felt sorry for humans. She knew they were stronger and smarter than yukkuri but knew mentioning it would be an uneasy thing to do.

Another uneasy thing to do was mention how Dosu had a lot of the remaining food for herself. The rest of the clan was starving, due to the overindulgence from most of the clan, and Dosu only cared about stuffing her own face. Reimu could have sworn (despite not liking profanity) she saw a few yukkuri were in a few of the scoops Dosu made. Reimu hoped she was wrong about it.

“Mr. Humans have been hogging the Mr. Munch-Munch for far too long ze~! It is time we show them who truly deserves all the Mr. Munch-Munch ze~! The invasion of the Mr. Farm will start… now ze~!”

Reimu felt something within her snap. She had tolerated Dosu’s poo-poo for the two years she had been alive. This was the breaking point for her. “No!” she shouted.

Dosu, along with various other yukkuri looked at her with different reactions. Some were confused. Others were surprised. Dosu was livid. “How dare you interrupt the Great Dosu ze~!”

“Great? Dosu isn’t great! Dosu is terrible!”

Nearly every yukkuri backed away from Reimu, shocked by her brazen statement.

“Is that a fact ze~?” Dosu said menacingly. “Dosu… doesn’t like Reimu’s attitude ze~.”

“Reimu doesn’t like Dosu!”

As the two glared at each other, Reimu’s friends struggled with trying to defeat Reimu without getting killed in the process.

“Reimu wants to leave this stupid Mr. Clan! Anyone else wants to join Reimu?!”

Dosu backed away as she smiled smugly. “Leave ze~? Reimu wants to leave this super easy Mr. Clan ze~?” She let out a bellowing laugh, completely dismissing Reimu’s claim.

“That’s exactly what Reimu wants!”

After she stopped laughing, Dosu slammed her braid near Reimu. The miss was due to Dosu’s stupidity, but many thought it was done as an intimidation tactic. “Fine ze~. If Reimu wants to leave this super easy, super awesome Mr. Clan, then do so. Reimu is hereby exiled easy!”

Reimu chuckled. “Exiling Reimu is the nicest thing Dosu has ever done to Reimu!”

“Mukyu…” one of the advisers coughed. “Dosu, this Reimu is an uneasy Ms. Troublemaker. She should be executed easy!”

Another Patchouli, looking even worse than the first, looked at Reimu evilly. “Reimu should be tortured, then exiled easy.”

“Dosu wants to get the Mr. Munch-Munch! Doing hurt-hurt to Reimu is too much Mr. Work!” Dosu whined. She already forgot about her trying to crush Reimu with her braid.

Reimu gave Dosu one more glare before leaving. She mumbled her disdain about leaving under the guide of such a moronic pile of paste. Shortly afterward, several other yukkuri followed. It caused families to fall apart. Longtime friends drifting apar. Lovers separating. Reimu, seeing the consequences of her action felt remorse and uneasiness. She was no better than the clan itself.

“Take it easy, Reimu ze~. Reimu did a smart thing easy.”

A somber sigh. That was all Reimu could muster. She, along with everyone that decided to follow, turned their backs to the clan. None planned to return. Some doubted there was going to be a clan after the invasion of the farm. They heard stories about other clans being wiped out easily. They figured going with Reimu gave them a chance at surviving.

After going in the opposite direction of the farm, Reimu and her comrades started on their journey for a new home. They knew taking it easy made being one with nature, not stripping it of its resources.

“Marisa still wants to find a Yuuka ze~.”

Reimu thought about it. “Finding new yukkuri would be nice. Lots would be okay.”

“It’ll depend on the yukkuri,” Patchouli mentioned.

“True.”

“Take it easy, Patchouli. Alice will make sure only the city sect joins us. The country bumpkins will have to find somewhere else to cause trouble.”

“Patchouli is counting on Alice.”

Alice giggled as she liked being praised by Patchouli. They then glared at Marisa, who still thought they should just kiss. Reimu facebraided before going forward. There was a lot of ground to cover and little time to do so. The future was uncertain, but Reimu decided to face it without any fear.

As they traveled, an Aya watched from overhead. “Ooh, curious, curious,” she said to herself before letting out her signature laugh.
