I'm new to the community, the yukkuri community that is. I was
browsing 4chan one day and happened upon a yukkuri thread on /v/, at
the time I referred to them as moe-blobs. Now about 30 some odd
pictures down the thread I saw a picture of asuka from Neon Genesis
Evangellion, her fingers were steepled and she looked very
frustrated.
The accompanying message said, "I keep looking at these pictures and
expect something to come from them, but there is no catharsis."
I didn't really understand the message at the time but now I do. I
have never devoured a subject matter or culture so quickly and
thoroughly before. There is no great moment of clarity, there is no
catharsis, it is just a strange guilty pleasure that I cannot seem to
expunge from my thoughts.
I've blazed through One Yukkuri Place. I've read most, if not all, of
the stories on this Google group, more than once. I cannot seem to
quench this thirst for yukkuri.
I've gone through strange fixations before. I was, at one point,
infatuated with competitive eating, and worked hard to eat as much as
I could, but that didn't last. I stumbled upon hypnosis and explored
that to my hearts content, but lost focus and interest. I've gone to
the stranger side as well, finding voreaphilia the most fascinating
subject in the world, until I saw it all.
I can't shake the yukkuri.
So, the reason I am posting here, in two parts.
The first is to ask if this is the most prominent or heavily
trafficked yukkuri discussion forum on the web. One Yukkuri Place has
no place for discussion, or order for that matter.(No offense targeted
at the creators or maintainers of said site, you provide a great
service for us all.) I want to make sure I cover all of my bases
before I move on the the second part of my yukkuri obsession.
Having soaked up all the yukkuri media, in English, that I could find,
I feel its time I add something to the community. Seeing as my drawing
are rivaled by those of elementary school drop-outs, i'm left with
writing.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that I am going to start writing
yukkuri stories, and want to know if there are anymore yukkuri
resources I should look at before picking up my pen.

Welcome! This is pretty much the only regularly contributed English
repository of yukkuri based text works. Short of learning Japanese and
reading through all the Anko, there's not much else to read. There's a
few stories on the yukkuri wiki, but that about wraps it up.

Fantastic. I guess I should start writing something then.

Welcome to the boards!

I understand the feeling, it's something I felt when I first started
with yukkuris as well. I remember waking up randomly in the middle of
the night to check the futaba in fear of missing some ongoing series
of my favorite artists, most of whom have since retired. The thread
in futaba also flows much slower now, so there's less chance of a
bunch of stuff disappearing in the middle of the night.

OYP is indeed the largest yukkuri community outside of Japan.
Discussion was hard there (with wall of text bumps) but under the new
danbooru format the wall is no longer an issue. You can track
comments and follow individual discussion threads, it's actually not
too bad for an actual discussion. Most of the zealots (on both abuse
and FF side) have since died down or went away as well, and it's now a
much nicer place than it was originally!

There are 2 other communities, though they are veritable ghost
towns.

a family friendly only board:

http://yukkuri.booru.org/index.php

and an abuse only board.

http://abyuse.booru.org/index.php

You'll also find Family friendly or abuse related threads on
pooshlmer.

Like Hourai said, the only other regular community is the japanese one
on Futaba and the Anko tracker. And If you don't understand
moonspeak, it'll be hard to go through. :)

TTBOMK, OYP is the largest, English speaking, Yukkuri centered site on
the net. It may be the largest amoung the non-English speaking (most of
the hits actually come from Japan), though FreeYY is up there if you
know Chinese. There used to be a Japanese archive but they restricted
it to Japan IPs only (and those of us clever enough to work around that).

(And I know the waxing and waning interests you describe; I have the
exact same thing, although my average period tends to be between 3 and
18 months, depending on the subject matter. Yukkuri may or may not be
on the downslope, but it's lasted longer than most.)

GTFO of my board.

Crude newfag jokes aside, I know how you feel, mate. Those yukkuri
threads over at /jp/ left me in a state of insatiable yu-craving for a
good few weeks before it settled down. I was left in a state similar
to yours, doing nothing but reading yukkuri stories, lol. Kept lurking
here for a few months, though~ But, yeah, if you've read all of the
stories here and at OYP, you probably know yukkuri enough and are
familiar enough with them to write your own stories, so go for it!
More writers are always a good thing!

I've actually started writing a story. I really like it so far, when I
get some substantial work done I'll start a thread for it and let you
guys tell me how bad it is lol. Untill then I'm just gonna keep
brainstorming millions and millions of yukkuri ideas.
