Nimona (2023), Temeraire - Naomi Novik, The Necromantic Mysteries of Kyle Murchison Booth - Sarah Monette

Request 1 by 20thcenturyvole
Fandom: Nimona (2023)
Characters: Ballister Boldheart (Nimona 2023), Ambrosius Goldenloin (Nimona 2023), Nimona (Nimona 2023)
Character Requirement: My gift must feature all of my chosen character tags (if 0: any from tag set)

Prompt:
Dear Yuletide writer, I am pretty fascinated by the potential for post-movie worldbuilding here. That city has been surrounded by a wall and fed straight propaganda for hundreds of years! Now, Ballister and Nimona have showed them all a different way, and Ambrosius is a beloved figure in the city supporting their cause. So how do the three of them help the city to deal with this rapid change in culture? What are the stumbling blocks to dealing with the outside world? And do they all live together in that adorable little crumbling fairytale tower?

Fandom: Temeraire - Naomi Novik
Characters: William Laurence, Tenzing Tharkay
Character Requirement: My gift must feature all of my chosen character tags (if 0: any from tag set)

Prompt:
Dear Yuletide writer, I am very fond of Laurence/Tharkay, though I also love gen fic, so if that is your preference I will enjoy it just as much. To that end I have two potential prompts for you:
1. Post-canon fic of them living together at Tharkay's estate. What do they do there? Who visits? What is the life of a retired Commodore and an ex(?)-spy like? How respectable do they manage to look to their neighbours?
2. Times there was only one bed, and it was totally not a big deal because this is the Regency period and people share beds all the time, so there is no reason to feel all hot and bothered about it. Basically, I'm a sucker for the Only One Bed cliche, but people did that all the time back then, and there is at least one canon instance of Laurence and Tharkay sleeping together and it's Totally Innocent And Platonic, so like. That. But with yearning. And maybe one instance where it wasn't platonic.

Fandom: The Necromantic Mysteries of Kyle Murchison Booth - Sarah Monette
Characters: Kyle Murchison Booth (Kyle Murchison Booth stories), John Pelham Ratcliffe (Kyle Murchison Booth stories), Claudia Coburn (Kyle Murchison Booth stories)
Character Requirement: My gift must feature all of my chosen character tags; or it may use exceptions I explain in the form

Prompt:
Dear Yuletide writer: I have a couple of potential prompts:
1. The vague one: do you have a particular bit of folklore you love? Please throw Booth in it at the deep end! Other tagged characters optional.
2. Some terrible winter weather descends and traps late workers in the museum overnight, including Booth. At first, it's strangely jolly: everyone huddled around the staffroom heaters, surviving on coffee and the fruitcake that somebody brought in that has remained untouched for days, waiting for the morning when the snowplows will free them. But as the evening wears on, it becomes clear that this might not be a natural storm, and unless Booth does something about it, they might not live to the morning...
3. Either Claudia or Ratcliffe (writer's choice) are under pressure to marry a certain respectable person, and go to Booth for advice or just someone to moan to. At first, he's baffled but rather cheered by engagement drama that doesn't involve any family curses or other horrid supernatural involvement. But when he meets the would-be fiance/e, it becomes clear to him that there IS something supernatural going on after all, and if he wants his friend to get out of this alive, he's going to have to help them break it off.
I like Booth/Ratcliffe as a ship, but I am equally happy with gen fic in this fandom. I just love to see Booth suffer but be really brave and competent about it.
