Line of Duty (TV 2012)
Kate Fleming (Line of Duty), Steve Arnott (Line of Duty), Ted Hastings (Line of Duty)
Line of Duty was, bar none, the best police procedural show that I’ve seen. I love the twist that being in AC12 gives these characters, and the fact that they’re essentially investigating their own. The characters are all supremely well-developed and the acting is fantastic. I should note that while I included all three in my request, I’d be happy to have just one, or two, or all three appear. I’d note that I haven’t seen the latest season since it hasn’t been made available in my region yet, so please exclude season 6.
The thing I most appreciate about Line of Duty is the fact that it’s probably the most accurate police procedural out there. As a lawyer, while I love police procedurals, it’s always with a niggling sensation that, Hello, your evidence will not hold up in court. With Line of Duty, I find that there is at least some recognition that they actually need evidence, and that there are procedures that need to be followed, and when the characters break them there are real consequences for them. It’s a good show, and it’s made even better by the recognition that something like due process exists.
Some prompts, but don’t feel constrained:
++With Steve Arnott, we never really see him processing his change in status from working in anti-terrorism to working with AC12. There obviously is some sort of status change, because in season 1 there are line showing that he struggles with his new position. He was used to being respected by his fellow police officers, but once he joined AC-12, he was despised. When and how does he come around to his new reality?
++With Kate and Ted, how do they get into anti-corruption? What are their backstories? We know Ted is from Northern Ireland, so where was he stationed during the Troubles? Did something happen during the Troubles that pushed him into anti-corruption?
++For all three of them, I’d love to see their character dynamics at play—whether they’re on a case, whether they’re in the downtime between cases, even if they’re just at the bar together relaxing after a case.
DNWs: Season 6 spoilers, character bashing, non-canonical major character death, graphic violence and torture (graphic being “more than what is in canon”), non-con or dub-con, PWP or large age differences (>15), adultery or infidelity, a focus on sex or romance.

New Amsterdam (TV 2018)
Lauren Bloom, Casey Acosta (New Amsterdam), Camila Candelario
All right, I have to preface my love of this show by saying: I’m not American. I come from the land of socialized medicine, which means I’ve literally never seen a bill for medical services in my entire life. And I’m also greatly entertained by how heavy-handed this show is on social issues. There’s an episode where the characters fraud themselves into another hospital to do a treatment! Episodes where they directly challenge the assessment of medical insurers! An episode where racism is the cause of illness! Episodes confronting anti-vaxxers! It makes my liberal left-wing heart happy.
I threw in a pretty weird group of characters from the ED here, and not all of them need to appear. I love Lauren because she’s such a hot mess of a character (and while I love Leyla, I kind of super hate the ending of s3 on this, and prefer we not talk about it), and I really love her relationship with Casey. I love Casey in general because he’s such a steady character, and he’s a vet from Iraq (which we know because he directly mentions it, and he talks about his deployment all of once). And I threw in Candelario because she’s also a vet from Afghanistan (which we know from the blackout episodes where she tells Reynolds that she did surgery in worse conditions in Afghanistan). Prompts:
++Give me Lauren & Casey or Lauren/Casey. Look, he’s always there and supportive of her, and he cleans up after her mistakes and all of that. I love him, and I love their relationship!
++Casey and Candelario bonding over being war vets. What did they think of the American withdrawal from Afghanistan and the subsequent sweep of the Taliban? The 20th anniversary of 9/11? Are they in a bar together reflecting on the past 20 years and the lives lost and what it was all for? Feel free to confront the military-civilian divide, or the… somewhat coercive way the military recruits with Free Education and Free Healthcare.
++Take a page from the series itself, pick a current social issue, and have it play out in the ED. Lauren, Casey and Candelario having No Sympathy for anti-vaxxers? I’m game. The aftermath of an inner-city school shooting, or toddler shoots his brother with an unsecured gun? Down for that too. I don’t normally like issue-fic, but when the canon itself is basically a series of very heavy-handed issue-fic, I’m down for it. Get on that podium and rant at me about your American social issue of choice.
DNWs: Any mention of the end of s3 for Lauren and Leyla, s4 spoilers, character bashing, non-canonical major character death, graphic violence and torture (graphic being “more than what is in canon”), non-con or dub-con, PWP or large age differences (>15), adultery or infidelity. Smut-wise, unless it’s indicated in my likes somewhere, I’m likely not going to appreciate anything kinky. To be more specific, I DNW A/B/O, age play, humiliation, bloodplay, cannibalism or vore, watersports, scat, mpreg, snuff, or underage (<15).

Provost's Dog - Tamora Pierce
Ersken Westover (Provost's Dog - Pierce), Kora Ingensra (Provost's Dog - Pierce)
In general, I love Tortall, but for this Yuletide, I’d love more Provost’s Dog. There is not enough fic for this series, and I’m going to go ahead and request a minor pairing because they’re just too cute together. Kora and Ersken come from such different worlds—Kora is a mage in the Court of the Rogue, while Ersken comes from a respectable family and serves as one of the Provost’s Dogs. There’s so much space for character interactions and conflict!
Prompts:
++How do they get together? They meet early in the first book, and they get together in the middle of it, but how does it happen? Once they’re together, how do they draw the line between home and work?
++What about the people around them? Beka herself is very accepting, but what about Ersken’s family? What happens if Ersken takes Kora home for a weekend visit?
++I’m also more than down for the standard romantic fluff of proposals, wedding-fic, baby-fic, kid-fic… give them a fluffy, happily ever after ending!
DNWs: Character bashing, non-canonical major character death, graphic violence and torture (graphic being “more than what is in canon”), non-con or dub-con, PWP or large age differences (>15), adultery or infidelity. Smut-wise, unless it’s indicated in my likes somewhere, I’m likely not going to appreciate anything kinky. Romances of Arquitaine - Lilith Saintcrow
Vianne di Rochancheil (Romances of Arquitaine), Tristan d'Arcenne (Romances of Arquitaine)
How do I even begin describing my love of this series? It tickles so my id so hard, from concept to characterization to world-building. To begin, there is Vianne di Rocancheil: hedgewitch, bookworm, and lady-in-waiting to Princesse Lisele d’Arquitaine. She’s also a royal byblow, but that doesn’t matter until it does, because there’s a coup that murders both the King and the Princesse.
Then, there’s Tristan D’Arcenne: the Captain of the King’s Guard, Left Hand of the King, desperately in love with Vianne and who might have betrayed and killed the King because the King wouldn’t let him court Vianne. With the coup, Vianne is now the Queen, if throneless, and Tristan must now attempt unseat the king that he might have helped put on the throne. Without letting Vianne know that he might have been involved in the murder of the last King and Princesse, of course.
I love the characterization of Vianne, especially in The Hedgewitch Queen. As she said herself, she was specifically raised to be without ambition, and those lessons took. What I love the most about her is that she is exactly what one would expect of a lady-in-waiting to the Princesse—she’s intensely loyal to her Princesse, she has no idea what she’s doing, the whole point of her life thus far was the glittering Court social scene. She has no practical skills, and she’s thrown into the deep end with no skills to survive it. And on the other hand, there’s Tristan, who is deeply in love with Vianne—and who was involved in killing the people she loved and who helped put her in this impossible situation.
So, onto my prompts, though don’t feel constrained by them if none of them speak to you!
++Canon divergence AU! I would love to see what would have happened if King Henri had realized that the price of Tristan’s loyalty was Vianne and given her to him. I’d be happy with a straight-up arranged marriage fic, especially considering that for Vianne, Tristan at Court is just barely on the fringes of her knowledge. What would have happened with the coup if Tristan hadn’t betrayed the King and Princesse? What would Vianne’s life have looked like? Of course I got a great fic for this as a triple crown raffle prize... but more cakes are needed!
++I’d love a deeper exploration of Tristan’s thoughts and feelings throughout The Hedgewitch Queen, particularly his balance between wanting Vianne for his own and having to put her on the throne. Alternatively, I’d love more from Vianne’s perspective on her betrayal in The Bandit King when she realizes that Tristan murdered the King. If you’re comfortable writing sex, I’d be happy with PWP/explicit sex—please note here that noncon and dubcon is fine. Canonically there’s a dubcon scene in The Bandit King anyway, Tristan is an insane stalkerish lover who crosses All The Boundaries and I am completely into it.
++The ending of the books leaves off with Vianne having abdicated the throne and running off to join the gypsies, and Tristan tracking her down (see: insane stalkerish lover). There’s an implication of reconciliation—what happened here? Has Vianne forgiven him, and where do they go from here?
I am specifically fine with darkfic here, including graphic violence, noncon/dubcon, PWP, and non-canonical major character death.
DNWs: Character bashing, adultery or infidelity.

Tales of Beauty and Madness - Lili St. Crow
Worldbuilding (Tales of Beauty and Madness)
I adore the worldbuilding in this series. The worldbuilding is absolutely brilliant, and I love that there are little hints of it all over without ever getting explicit. The world was the same as ours until the Reeve, or the magical revolution, where something happened to make the world dangerously unsafe. Covered trains travel between cities, and magical power can twist and turn someone into a jack.
The stories themselves, which are really only retellings of classic fairy tales, have such amazing twists. The dwarves of Snow White are seven vampire mafia families, the fairy godmother in Cinderella is a giant spider planning in eating Cinderella, and Little Red Riding Hood solves a murder. It’s… that kind of series.
For this request, I’d love any and all of the following:
++An expansion on the Reeve. What happened here?! One day, there was no magic (or all magic was underground), and then BOOM, it was everywhere?! Normal people suddenly could develop charm and go to charmschool and do magic? Tell me more, tell me more!
++What about the jacks? The jacks, it’s implied, are people whose charm has twisted—they can’t control their magic well, and it causes other… problems. Like anger management issues. I’d love something from the point of view of a jack! How do they make a living and see the world? Is there another fairy tale they could fit into?
++Tell me about the Waste! In this world, covered and protected trains travel between cities, and it’s said that the jacks and other twisted fae live in the Waste—tell me about these journeys! How do they keep these dangerous undesirables out of the cities? I’d love something from the point of view of a guard, either privately hired or a city guard, on the dangers out there.
DNWs: Character bashing, non-canonical major character death, graphic violence and torture (graphic being “more than what is in canon”), non-con or dub-con, PWP or large age differences (>15), adultery or infidelity, a focus on sex or romance

We Are Lady Parts (TV)
Amina Hussein, Ayesha (We Are Lady Parts), Ahsan (We Are Lady Parts)
This is an adorable and hilarious and wonderful show where five Muslim girls make a punk band. And it’s awesome. The characters are super relatable and not caricatures, there are huge disparities on what it means to be Muslim, and just… everything. It’s funny, it’s sweet, it’s everything in one package and I love it.
I picked Amina, Ayesha and Ahsan mainly because I like the way they all play against each other, though not all three need to appear. I really liked how in the series, Ahsan isn’t interested in Amina until basically they’ve already broken up (what a dork), and one of my absolute favourite scenes is the one between Ayesha and Ahsan about whether Amina is seeing anyone. Prompts:
++Amina and Ahsan finally working out that maybe they have a shot together and getting back together—and figuring out what that means considering that Ahsan is clearly quite a lot less religious than she is, and also Amina’s religiosity seems to stem from Noor and her other friends anyway, so maybe she’s working out what works for her.
++Ayesha and Ahsan—give me sibling dynamics! On one hand, there’s Ahsan in grad school for anthropology, and on the other there’s Ayesha who drives an Uber or delivers food on a bike. Tell me about them!
++Amina and Ayesha don’t have too much of an on-screen relationship, and I’m not sure Ayesha even likes Amina, and yet she stands up for Amina to her brother. So, expanding on their relationship could be fun!
DNWs: On-screen sex, character bashing, non-canonical major character death, graphic violence and torture (graphic being “more than what is in canon”), non-con or dub-con, PWP or large age differences (>15), adultery or infidelity.
