Hi everyone - I am wondering about programs still running that offer support/groups/counselling services to parents and caregivers. Myself and Parent Peer Support, Chantal, are working via phone from home at the moment to support parents and caregivers one-on-one to help them navigate the mental health and substance use support system. It's clearly an extremely confusing time for everyone but particularly if you're trying to find support for your kids who are struggling. We are wondering who is still up and running or working on getting their programs operating online. Please share your updates on the YSPN and/or the PSPN so we can get this info in front of the parents who are seeking support. Feel free to contact me directly at 250 216 8389

I'm incredibly grateful to be part of this community. Wishing you all good health!

Hi Jen, All

Discovery is still providing services.  We are encouraging clients to meet with counsellors by phone, Skype, and other video platforms being developed with security measures.

You can still refer youth and their families by contacting our intake team by email or phone.  Phone number is (250) 519-5313 extension 34345, leave a message for good time to call.   Referrals can be faxed to (250) 519-5314 (form is attached)

We are working to develop ways to stay connected with existing clients and to deal with new intakes.  Our goals is to continue to provide service during these challenging times.

Best regards and take good care,

Hi Monica,

Hope you are well. I would like a copy of the list of resources available please! FYI Saanich CYMH is still accepting referrals and conducting intakes (by phone) and continuing to work with families by phone and email, and soon via Skype. At the moment, all of our groups are postponed, with no plans to offer them virtually at this point.

Best,
Stephanie

Hi Jen - Yes from our homes we are continuing all of our support services.   WRAP workshops are on hold for now.  So we are continuing to offer both our peer support and weekly Wednesday support group (2 to 3:30) by phone or by Zoom.   If one can't join the support group by Zoom then they can by phone.  The group is limited to 14 people so the person should call our office phone number Monday or Tuesday if they plan to be there.  That number again is 250-384-4225.  Please call between 10:00 and 2:00.  If the line is busy leave a message saying when is the best time to return their call.
I find my workload has increased quite a bit during this transition time.  I expect that will continue for the next week or two.  So please let people know when they leave a message for for peer support that it could be a week before I get back to them.
If you haven't heard from our family counsellor on the services she coordinates please email admin @mhrp.ca.
Thanks, Don

Hi all,
I am not sure who is all on this email chain, so I apologize if this is doubling up on information for some of you! Kim Koenig, one of our District Counsellors, has been compiling updates for services that focus on youth mental health in our local area. It is not an exhaustive list, of course, but a start to help our staff and students/families know how to access support during this time. Kim has made it open so that you can update your agencies information as appropriate. It is similar to the other list that is out there, but more focussed on youth. Thank you all for your continued work in our communities. It is so important, now more than ever!

Take care,

Hi All,

Similar to Saanich CYMH, West Shore/Sooke CYMH is still accepting referrals and doing intakes over the phone, and we continue to work with families by phone (and soon by Skype).

We’re hoping to offer virtual groups, starting with a parent/caregiver support group. But we’re still working out the details.

Kind regards,

Amy Visser

Hello Everyone,

I hope you and your family are doing well.

FamilySmart continues to offer the same services to families during this time. Here is a reminder of what we do:

FamilySmart  Helps parents and caregivers of children with any kind of mental health issue.

(1) We talk with parents one on one on the phone to support them, offer suggestions, and help them find resources in the community or online

(2) We help parents or caregivers navigate the Mental Health System to make sure they are aware of all points of entry to services.

 (3) We will be hosting parent meetings virtually starting in April.

Families can email me at Lisa...@familysmart.ca and we will set up a time to meet by phone.

Take Care☺

Lisa
