Hi Again Advocates,
I just sent out the announcement for the two-week Zambia trip with Dr. Michael O’Brien in late April 2017. The application process is a short one, so I want to ensure that students are aware. Can you spread the word amongst your class? The due date for the application is 10/14/2016. See below and attached.
Thank you,

Subject: International Travel Opportunity for Surgical Rotation in Zambia
International Travel Opportunity for Surgical Rotation in Zambia
Michael O'Brien, M.D., Ph.D., Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery, is planning his annual trip to Mwandi Hospital in rural, Western Zambia, Africa and is hoping to again take a medical student along for this two week international medical experience. The dates of the trip are Friday, April 21st, 2017 to Saturday, May 6th, 2017. Mwandi Hospital is a rural 50 bed hospital located in the village of Mwandi, on the Zambezi River, midway between Livingstone and Sesheke, in the southwest corner of Zambia. The medical experience would primarily be surgical but students would be caring for patients with infectious and medical diseases as well.
Eligibility for the Award: Eligibility is limited to only those students that are able to be free of other academic responsibilities during the two week period. Having completed third year rotations in medicine and surgery is mandatory. Applications must be received no later than October 14th, 2016.
Finances: The expected cost of the trip is roughly $2,500 to $3,000.00 depending on the cost of the flights. The Yale Surgical Society is presently working on an award to help subsidize these sorts of trips but it is not guaranteed and may not cover all expenses. Students should seek financial aid as necessary from other sources.
Submit attached application and current CV to nickia...@yale.edu, by October 14th, 2016 for consideration.
