York Road Neighbors,

Here are a few upcoming events from York Road Partnership and YRP members over the next week!
  • Gator Thrift On-the-Go Pop-Up: Today! April 13, 2:00-4:30 pm at the Govans Library, 5714 Bellona Ave. Flyer below. Follow @ndmugatorthrift on Instagram or contact Morgan Williamson at mwill...@live.ndm.edu.

  • Govans Community Farm Grand Opening: Sunday, April 19, 12:00-3:00 pm at Govans Presbyterian Church, 5828 York Road. Join the grand opening of this new corridor resource partially funded by a grant from the State through GEDCO and YRP via the Baltimore Regional Neighborhood Initiative (BRNI). Refreshments, entertainment, rock and face painting, seed bombs, and Nature Sacred journaling. Contact Peter Conrad at pgre...@gmail.com for more info.
  • BUILD North/Northeast Action – Building Safe Passages for All: Mon., April 20, 6:00-7:30 pm at Church of the Redeemer, 5603 N. Charles St. Flyer below. Act with YRP as we stand with leaders across north and northeast Baltimore for traffic calming improvements, including at the corner of Bellona Ave. & Northern Parkway. Register at tinyurl.com/DOTNNE. Questions? Contact yorkroadp...@gmail.com or (443) 593-4240
Finally, if you came to our General Meeting last week, you saw that we couldn't quite get the audio to project through the Zoom call, but Pen Lucy leader Kourtnee Turner and her neighborhood have been highlighted in a couple ways recently for how attainable homeownership is in great neighborhoods in Baltimore!
  • Check out Mayor Scott's State of the City video from last week. Kourtnee comes in at about 13:00 talking about how Live Baltimore's Trolley Tour helped connect her with her current home in Pen Lucy while she was living in Tulsa!
  • Two months ago USA Today also did a story and discussion of Kourtnee's experience and Live Baltimore's role in marketing neighborhoods. As Mayor Scott did, this article points out how Black women in particular are buying homes in Baltimore!
Have a great week, and we hope to see you out on the corridor.

Dan Pontious
President
