Dear Dipanjan Chakraborty,

We are excited to invite you to submit your work to the ACM
SIGCAS/SIGCHI Conference on Computing and Sustainable Societies (ACM
COMPASS 2024), to be held in New Delhi from July 8th to 11th, 2024.
Inspired by the broad agenda of the United Nations Sustainable
Development Goals, COMPASS is an international forum for the
presentation and publication of original research that supports the
growth of sustainable societies worldwide, from disciplines including
computer and information sciences, social sciences, environmental
sciences, and engineering. ACM COMPASS is sponsored by the ACM Special
Interest Group on Computing and Society (SIGCAS) and the ACM Special
Interest Group in Computer Human Interaction (SIGCHI).

*Full Papers*

The COMPASS’24 full papers process will be handled by the ACM Journal on
Computing and Sustainable Societies (JCSS). Papers must be submitted to
JCSS following the JCSS author guidelines. JCSS submission tracks include:

     - Systems and IoT for Sustainable Societies
     - HCI, Design and Critical Perspectives
     - AI, ML and Data Science for Sustainable Societies
     - Development, Economics and Policy
     - Environment, Sustainability and Climate Change
     - Technology, Media, and Social Practice

Papers can be submitted to JCSS at any time, on a rolling basis. Reviews
and decisions (accept/minor revision; revise and resubmit; or reject)
will be sent to authors roughly 3 months after the initial submission.
Papers that receive an initial decision of “revise and resubmit” must
resubmit their revised paper no earlier than one month and no later than
six months after receiving the initial reviews. Final decisions will be
sent to authors roughly 1 month after they submit the revised version.

All papers that have been accepted or received a decision of “minor
revision” from JCSS by March 31, 2024 will be invited to present at the
COMPASS’24 conference in Delhi, India. Authors can present their work
either in-person or virtually; the conference will support both virtual
and in-person attendance.
Submission Deadlines

Because papers can be submitted to JCSS at any time and on a rolling
basis, there is no official paper submission deadline. However, we
strongly encourage authors who want to present their paper at COMPASS’24
in Delhi to submit the paper to JCSS by end-December, 2023 or
early-January, 2024, to get a decision by March 31st, 2024.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Short Papers*

Short Papers encourage submissions that focus on a contribution that is
succinct or ongoing. Submissions in this category are intended to allow
presenters to share their latest results or get feedback on projects
which may not otherwise be appropriate for Full Papers (Journal Track).
Short papers are likely to have a more focused and concise research
contribution to the field. For example, a submission on a novel system
may not cover the entire system design but rather go into depth
regarding a specific topic (e.g., how the system was evaluated with real
users or how the formative work to create the system was conducted).
Short Paper Description

COMPASS Short Papers would consider previously unpublished, concise and
insightful submissions that make a specific, explicit contribution on
its own, but unlike Full Papers, are not expected to provide full
discussion or related work. While the length of short papers is
flexible, they should be between 5000 and 8000 words (not counting the
references). Short papers would benefit from short presentations and
discussions during the conference.

All Short Paper submissions must be fully anonymous. Submissions will go
through a double-blind peer-review process by members of the COMPASS
Program Committee. Authors should not reveal their names or affiliations
on the title page, text, or document metadata. Any references to the
authors’ own prior work should be in the third person.

Important Dates for Short Paper Submissions:
March 1st, 2024: Deadline for submissions
April 15th, 2024: Notifications to the authors
May 30th, 2024: Deadline for the camera-ready version of the accepted
submissions

Accepted short papers will be archived in the ACM Digital Library. To
accommodate the publishing traditions of different fields, authors of
accepted short papers can ask that only a one-page abstract appears in
the archival proceedings along with a URL pointing to the full
submission. Authors should guarantee that the link to the full
submission will be reliable for at least two years. This option is
available to accommodate subsequent publication in journals that would
not consider preliminary results that have been published in the
proceedings of a conference.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
*Demos*

The ACM Compass 2024 Demo Track invites submissions from academia,
industry, and NGOs to present innovative tools and applications
originating from research and development initiatives or from the
industry. The demonstrations should be either prototypes or production
solutions that support the growth of sustainable societies in a broad
array of disciplines including computer and information sciences, social
sciences, environmental sciences, and engineering suiting any of the ACM
Compass topic areas. To be considered for the Demo Track, submissions
will be evaluated on the basis of relevance, novelty, usefulness, and
innovativeness to the COMPASS community.
Submission Information

The submission needs to be accompanied by a demo paper discussing the
relevance, novelty, innovativeness, and maturity of the tool.

Authors of demos should submit a description of their work in PDF format
using the current ACM two-column conference format, and should be no
longer than 4 pages of content but can include unlimited references.
Submissions will go through a double-blind review process; therefore,
authors should not reveal their names or affiliations on the title page,
text, or document metadata. Any references to the authors’ own prior
work should be in the third person.

A demo paper should contain at least the following parts:

     - Title
     - An abstract
     - An introduction section, which, among others, should highlight
the significance of the tool to the COMPASS community
     - A section discussing the innovations of the tool and its main
features
     - A section describing either actual deployments or envisioned uses
cases.

Accepted submissions will be archived in the ACM Digital Library. To
accommodate the publishing traditions of different fields, authors of
accepted submissions can ask that only a one-page abstract appears in
the archival proceedings along with a URL pointing to the full
submission. Authors should guarantee that the link to the full
submission will be reliable for at least two years. This option is
available to accommodate subsequent publication in journals that would
not consider preliminary results that have been published in the
proceedings of a conference.

At least one author of each accepted demo paper is expected to
participate in person during the COMPASS demo session.

Important Dates for Demo Submissions:
March 1st, 2024: Deadline for submissions
April 15th, 2024: Notifications to the authors
May 30th, 2024: Deadline for the camera-ready version of the accepted
submissions.
