This is getting serious. If we are to have our community garden at all, let alone spring crops, we need to come together and finish the ground-breaking project THIS WEEK.
Steve, Sarah, and Austin have attended at least two work parties each and can disregard this email. (A reminder, each member needs to come help with at least two ground-breaking efforts in order to participate as members in this year's garden, plus sign up for the regularly scheduled weekly or bimonthly shifts, as well as pay the $50 fee). So, those of you who've come once need to come at least once more.
I know that many of you have had some pressing commitments. And clearly it's difficult for us to plan to come when the weather reports necessarily give us short notice as to when we can be sure of clear weather and soil that's had a chance to dry out adequately, coordinated with the city compost facility's open hours. I want you all to know that I am thrilled with what I am fully aware are your sincere intentions to do your part, and your excitement and commitment are heart-felt, I know this absolutely. What I am trying to emphasise as strongly as possible is that now we have no margin for error, so make every effort possible to come, drop everything, and let's make the Year-round Riverwood Community Garden that we've been dreaming of!
Our final two work parties will be this Wednesday, March 16, and next Saturday, March 19. Due to the delays, I am urging you in all earnestness to invite, cajole, or outright DRAG your families and friends to come help, and be ready to stay for three hours or more per event. Tell them it's a free hands-on class on organic gardening. It is!
We'll be out there at 9:00 a.m. both days.
***Let's make this BIG!!!!***
RSVP ASAP.
Fees are due WEDNESDAY. Those who have not paid can not be assured a share in this year's garden. I wish I could be a softie on this. We need the fees to cover as much of the costs as possible, as we're paying everything else out of pocket on a single income. If we're at eight paid members - and I think we are - we need #s 9 and 10, then whoever pays first gets those spots. If you want me to reserve a spot for you, contact me to promise me that I will have your $50 cash or check in hand on Wednesday.
Please sign up for your shift, which you can do at our website, riverwoodcommunitygarden.blogspot.com - you can sign up for weekly or bimonthly 1.5-hour shifts. Shifts also begin this week, so if you've signed up for Mondays, your first shift is today.
