Hi, Gardeners!

We have two more ground-breaking events to plan, and it looks like the weather will allow us to schedule the first this Wednesday, March 9.  Try if at all possible to be there at 10 a.m., but it'll go on for several hours, so feel free to email or call me to arrange earlier or later arrival times if you can't make it at 10.  Those who can't come due to its being a workday are asked to come to our final ground-breaking event this Saturday, March [12].  Stay as long as you can!  The more we accomplish together, the sooner we can put seeds into the ground and the sooner we can eat lots of great harvest.

Our primary goal for ground-breaking #1, this Wednesday, is to cover most of the front and side areas with newspapers and soil/compost.  Please bring newspapers, shovels, rakes, a wheelbarrow, a trailer (preferably one full of compost from Fayetteville's facility - you will be compensated), if you have or can get access to any of these items.  With a lot of us doing it, we can get it done!  Please be there!

After this Saturday's ground-breaking party, we will settle into our schedule of weekly or bi-weekly (every other week) shifts.  Here's what you penciled in:

Steve: Tuesdays or Thursdays, 7:30-9:00
Kara: Saturdays, 9:00-10:00 or Sundays, 7:30-9:00
Austin and Sarah: Mondays or Wednesdays, 6:00-7:30

So, for example, Kara will work her first shift on Sunday, March 13, unless, Kara, you decided that Saturdays work better for you; if so, we'll see you on the 19th.  Austin or Sarah will work their first shift next Monday, March 14 (unless you two have decided on Wednesdays, instead; then you'd come next Wednesday the 16th).

Steve, your first shift is Tuesday,  unless you opt for the Thursday slot.

I know several gardeners have asked that we post the schedule online, and I apologize for not getting it on the website.  It's been a very hectic time!  Those who haven't signed up yet, please just email me with your preferred time, and let me know if you want that time to be weekly or bi-weekly.  Also, note that shifts that are already penciled in are open to several gardeners.  When a shift is penciled in, it is not closed off to other gardeners who want to work at that time - as long as we have enough tools or as long as you bring your own!  2-3 per shift at this point will be doable.

I will provide a sign-in sheet and a task list near the front door of our house so you'll know what needs to be done that day (it will be there whether I'm here or not).

Let me know if you have any questions!

Looking forward,
Liev

Hi Liev,

Sarah and I cannot make it on Wednesday, but we will be there
Saturday, March 12. Just wanted to let you know. I have a 3ftx2ft
board that's half cork board and half dry erase board I can bring on
Saturday which could sit outside your house to post the sign in sheet
and tasks. Let me know if you think it would be useful.

Austin
