That's right YPOR, it's almost the third Tuesday of the month and that means I'm here to remind you that we will be having our monthly social tomorrow at
Lincoln's Sports Grille @ 6:00! Come out and share with us all the fun things you did this past weekend and get to know your fellow members a little better.
We also have a number of exciting community events coming up here soon.
This year's Relay For Life is happening on May 16th from 6pm-12am at Oak Ridge High School. I've talked a bit about this with member Kenny Herring, and it sounds like they've got a lot of good stuff packed in for this event. I like the way the Relay people phrased it by saying "This is your opportunity to honor cancer survivors, remember those we have lost, and raise funds and awareness to fight back and help end cancer forever." So, the fact that this event is a lot of fun is just a bonus. For those of us whose lives have been touched by cancer, this truly is a meaningful event.
A little ways on down the road, there will be a Community Kickball Tournament benefiting TORCH, a local no-non profit working hard to correct homelessness and to provide our community with training that effectively breaks the cycle of poverty. This event will be held at Carl Yearwood Park on June 28th. I'm sure you'll be hearing more about that as it gets closer (to us entering...and us WINNING).
A big part of what we do here in YPOR is bettering ourselves and our community by getting involved in events like these. There are lots and lots of ways to get involved besides just the few mentioned here. We've also got opportunities with Mutt Strutt 2014 (benefiting the Oak Ridge Animal Shelter), Habitat for Humanity and Cash Mobs/Labor of Love. If you are interested in getting involved in any of these events, contact courtne...@gmail.com
Hope to see you all tomorrow!
