Yarmouth Police Participate in Law Enforcement Special Olympics Torch Run

A team of Yarmouth Police Officers and friends will be volunteering to participate in the annual Barnstable County Law Enforcement Torch Run to benefit Special Olympics Massachusetts.

The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an international partnership between law enforcement personnel and Special Olympics. More than 85,000 officers participated in the program in 2011 raising over $42 million around the world. It is a special partnership that allows local officers to help raise awareness and funds that directly support the local Special Olympics Athletes of Massachusetts and all over the United States.

The event starts at 5:00 AM on Thursday, June 7th in Provincetown and will run 66 miles along Route 6A and end at the Bourne Police Department at approximately 5:00 PM.

The Yarmouth section of the run is expected to start at approximately 12:00 PM at the Dennis town line and end 4.2 miles later at the Barnstable town line.

Rte. 6A travelers are advised to expect slight delays and use extra caution.

In support of this special event the Yarmouth Police Department is accepting donations and all members of the public are invited to run with the team of Police Officers.
