Physical Signature

Hi,  Is there an option to have a user physically sign the document instead of just typing their name?

For e-signatures, parties must take "willful action" to sign.  We currently support legible and meaningful and value-checkable typed signatures over the squiggles that rarely look anything like traditional pen-based signatures.

There has been talk of adding such a signature capability (via jSignature javascript library), but you do lose legibility and value checking.  Nearly all POS signatures we've analyzed are just loops and swirls or haphazard characters and look nothing like written signatures, so it's not been a priority without a client who really prefers it.

If you think this is a real need, check out this jSignature demo.  This is the library we'd use if we were to make this an option, but note that signing by fingers and mouse and trackpads are nearly impossible to make similar to a handwritten signature, and in practice most just makes loops or lines and it looks ragged even if they try their best to make it look good:

Thank you! Definitely make sense and that is helpful. We had a client saying that they needed that capability over the typed signature, but were corrected in a later email by another person that they did not. So that is why I had the inquiry of its availability.

Thank you for letting us know.  We believe that's the best choice, to have the legal willful action be legible and verifiable compared to the squiggles that generally are done when doing POS-style finger/mouse scribbling.
