Hello - For the last 8 hours I've been updating my server with security patches and everything was going great up until the latest WHM update. It was a major update for quite a few security fixes. I ran "su - esignforms" then run "yorestart all" followed by service iptables restart. I was able to get esign system up and running again however now I cannot send emails after a form is submitted. Screenshot attached is the latest from the mail log. I've exhausted every possible attempt to fix this on my own and would appreciate any assistance! Thank you.

What does the maillog look like when an email is being sent?  Or is that the error about cannot connect to spamd?  It's not clear why you even need spamd as the esign server generally shouldn't get much spam, and only emails that it can correlate back to a transaction are processed.

What does the email log look like from your transaction details (run a report or 'tran search' and click on a transaction that included an email being sent out)?  Does it show any errors at the application level?

The mail log I attached is what it looks like as its being sent. Spamd is an entirely separate issue and your right...it doesn't need to be enabled. I've attached the transaction log per your request. It does not appear to provide any information about the email.

Next to the transaction's activity log is the view email button.  It shows all emails sent and if there are any replies associated with them, including errors/bounces.

The maillog does not show any outbound email from what we can see (but the spamd error is present and so don't know if it is interfering in any way).

Attached the log...appears that its not connecting properly to local host.

Says connection refused when doing a telnet at localhost 25. Appears something is up with post fix I believe.

Is postfix running?  For most systems, as root issue 'service postfix restart'.  Also, check if your firewall rules somehow are blocking local access on port 25.

Also, make sure your /etc/hosts file has localhost.localdomain defined.  Normally it's setup, but sometimes changes might just end up with localhost, but not localhost.localdomain.

Says "postfix: unrecognized service" when attempting to run the service postfix restart command.

Appears it was removed somehow...I have the whole postfix directory backed up. Is it a matter of re installing postfix and just copying all the postfix config files over?

Oh, that's unusual.  We're not 100% positive, but I'd recommend installing postfix normally, and then you could compare/use the backup files for /etc/postfix: main.cf and virtual_alias.  That should work assuming the reinstalled postfix version is the same (other than patch fixes).

Great thing is that all the emails that were supposed to be sent just came through :)

Great. Gotta be careful when securing and updating your system that you don't remove components (postfix) or start up competing services (apache httpd) or change firewall/nat rules (iptables).

Absolutely. At this point you can say I've just about troubleshooted just about every issue as it relates to CPANEL / Esign forms so you shouldn't be hearing back from me in a while :) My last order of business is to figure out how to get CSF firewall to work with Esign forms / iptables.

Tony - I figured this out! I had to write a rule in CSF that forwarded ports that were forwarded in IPtables. Security is now up to snuff!
