BE THERE for the debut of the Youth Speaks Seattle 2012 Slam series at the Fremont Abbey this Friday January 13th!! It will be live, it will be powerful, it will be beautiful, a unique night of story and ritual. spoken word poetry is a global movement, the latest incarnation of the ancient art of speaking truth.

WHAT IS A SLAM?
-a competitive poetry performance of original work
-a panel of judges rate each poem on a scale from 0 to 10
-3 rounds(meaning bring 3 poems if you intend to slam)

WHY SLAM?

-slam pushes poets to new levels of performance and writing
-slam can amplify the voices of silenced people

-slam is a gimmick to get people to witness poets speakin truth
