A 3-Day International Conference on
Corruption, Governance and Development in Nigeria
This is to announce a 3-Day International Conference on Corruption, Governance and Development in Nigeria with a view to examining critical issues pertaining to the problem of corruption in Nigeria by reviewing lessons learned, interrogating current policies and strategies on anticorruption and proposing policy recommendations and options in reinforcing the fight against corruption in the country.
Participation is open to all interested members of the academia, civil society organizations, officials of political parties, officials of anti-corruption institutions, organs of State, professional groups, labour unions etc. Participants are hereby invited from Nigeria specifically; other parts of Africa and the world in general, to the ancient city of Kano, the venue of the conference.

2. Democratic Reforms and Practices and Anti-Corruption (Reforms of Laws and Institutions like Judiciary, Legislature, and Electoral Reforms etc)
3. Economic Policy and Anti-Corruption (Deregulation, Privatization, Commercialization, Budget Structure, Unemployment etc)
4. Public Sector Salaries and Wages, Social Infrastructure etc. and their Relationship with Corruption)
5. Civil Society and Public Support for Anti-Corruption (i.e. Citizens' Engagement, Whistleblower Protection)
6. Foreign Actors/Institutions and Corruption/Anti-Corruption in Nigeria
7. Challenges of Assets Reparation
8. Strengthening and Building Partnership in the Fight against Corruption
9. Anti-Corruption Strategies
CALL FOR PAPERS:
Abstracts (not exceeding 300 words) on any of the conference sub-themes should be sent to cdra...@yahoo.com not later than August 31, 2011. Authors whose abstracts are accepted would be notified by September 15, 2011; submission deadline for full papers is October 15, 2011 while authors whose papers are finally accepted for presentation at the conference would be notified by November 15, 2011.
NB: Selection of paper presenters at the conference would be based on the quality of the final papers submitted and that late submission will not be considered.
