Hi Everyone-
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to update you on healthworker campaigning activities happening at the global and national levels and inviting you all to participate.
As you may know, the White Ribbon Alliance is joining over 250 organizations to call for urgent action for more healthworkers, better supported. We are asking for the public’s help to build pressure on global leaders to address the health worker shortfall and to make new commitments for supporting them at the UN General Assembly meetings in NYC in September.
Tomorrow, we will be launching a new website with partner organizations to unite the campaigning efforts and to support individuals and organizations that are interested in participating. It is our hope that you will work with WRA Nigeria to continue to pressure the government of Nigeria to make and deliver on commitments to support health workers. We also hope that you will visit the new website tomorrow (www.healthworkerscount.org) and join us in taking action to cultivate even more support.
I’ll send a reminder email tomorrow with a link to WRA’s press release and the website. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me. In the meantime, I’ve outlined a few resources below to help get things started. Thank you all for your commitment to MNCH. I look forward to working with you all!
Best,
Kristin Savard
Here’s how you can get involved starting tomorrow:
1) Visit healthworkerscount.org to add your name to the petition.
2) Use social networking sites to spread the word. We are trying to get #healthworkers trending on twitter. See the sample messages below or create your own, just remember to add the tag #healthworkers. These messages can also be used on facebook.
3) Email your friends to encourage them to join. See sample email below.
4) Visit healthworkerscount.org and download the healthworkers campaign toolkit (won’t be up until Wednesday 20 July). Then, organize a meeting with friends and other advocates to discuss what you can do in your community from now until September to put pressure on the govt of Nigeria.

Dear friends,
Health workers are critical to saving lives: they are the single most important element of any health service. Without them, no vaccine can be administered, no life-saving drugs prescribed, and no woman can be given expert care during childbirth. Without health workers conditions like pneumonia and diarrhoea – which can be treated easily by someone with the right skills, supplies and equipment – become deadly.
The world needs millions more health workers, better supported, if we are to stop preventable deaths of mothers and children. We’re pressing world leaders to expand the number of health workers and better support those already in place.
The White Ribbon Alliance for Safe Motherhood and Youth Advocates for MNCH Nigeria are campaigning together with over 250 other organisations for more health workers, better supported.
By bringing our voices together in this way we’re helping to ensure the message is heard and acted upon. Health workers save lives – and by joining together in common cause, we can help them save even more.
Please take action at www.healthworkerscount.org
Thank you.
Thanks for the update on health worker activities and we will surely
keep up the work on health workers.
More thanks for the publicity created by the blog. we hope to send you more
We will surely spread the news.
warmest regards,
