Interfaith Youth Leadership:
Interfaith Youth Core will launch new project in India
“When people ‘Perspire’ it brings people together. When (human) ‘Arms” works together it can bring peace” said Dr S. N. Subbarao, Chairman, ICYO while talking the gathering on the event organized by Indian Committee of Youth Organizations (ICYO) titled 'Who Is An Interfaith Leader?' on 16th March 2011 at Gandhi Peace Foundation in New Delhi.

The half day workshop conducted by Mr. Abhishek Raman of Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) USA.
He shared the IFYC experience working in America and how 9/11 has made difference and compelling reason to look religion as a binding force. He said that Interfaith work is challenging as we are all different. We need respect people by acknowledging those differences. A small exercise was undertaken to make participants understand those differences.
The short presentation introduce participants to IFYC's vision for interfaith leadership An interfaith leader casts a vision that sees the world in terms of cooperation rather than conflict and can mobilize and inspire others around that vision. The cooperation can be fostered by finding ‘Common Action For Common Good’.
Earlier the dialogue began with an interactive discussion on How to create Safe Space for dialogue? Listening was one of the key guiding principles for creating those spaces.
The Interfaith Youth Core (IFYC) will be soon launching three year Youth Leadership programme in India. This programme will be launched in four metro cities of India including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad with the help of partner organizations in these cities. Mr Raman gave the detail information about the programme to participants. According to him, 50 Youth leaders will be selected, trained and place in different youth organizations in these four cities.

Dr.S.N.Subbarao, Chairman of ICYO specially came to have interaction. He too shared his perspective on Interfaith. How his youth camps have integrated the Interfaith element into the process and helps youth to internalize it. Commitment and action are the two things that can make a difference, he said.
ICYO senior’s presence grace the occasion, those are present including Dr Ran Singh Parmar, Treasurer; Mr Ravi Narayan, Secretary General; Mr Sukumar, Board member. Mr Vijay Bharatiya moderated the programme.
