The LMA is proud to present a tour-de-force review of the development of normative Islamic scholasticism and hadith scholarship in general, the decline of knowledge and challenges Muslims face today vis-à-vis ‘ilm.

This three hour session will emphasise the tolerance of religious pluralism within Sunnism, place an emphasis on following qualified scholarship and highlight the pitfalls of following contemporary autodidacts.

The instructor, Aftab A. Malik is the author of The Broken Chain: Reflections upon the Neglect of a Tradition - upon which this workshop is based.This book has been described as an important, accessible and timely work that summarises the traditional scholarship that has become available to English-speaking Muslims in the last decade or so.

This lecture, set in an informal setting, will take place Sunday 10th February at the LMA library, starting at 10:00 am, sharp.

Registration will cost $50; $40 with a student discount.

Light refreshments will be served.

Registration is ESSENTIAL for this event closing Friday 8 February, COB.
