Thanks for your reply Hany.
It'd be better if most people could attend so I will see if we can change the meeting to say a Tuesday? or a Wednesday? How does that work for people?
Regarding the mission statements - we have included Egyptians because that is who our target focus is. That's not to say that we are exclusive, on the contrary we are inclusive hence 'building bridges and creating a connected community'.
Our name has Egyptian in it, people come to us for support - we then provide them information to access services, and a link/connection with the wider community. Otherwise we should just change our name to The Islamic Society which I don't think is what we have the capacity to be/do.
I hope that clarifies.

Assalamu Alaikum,
Apologies for not attending last week. My return flight from Mel was cancelled & I arrived back late. Firstly well done & JAK to all who attended for sifting through the Mission & Assmaah JAK for organising/chairing the meeting.
I have a small comment to make, are the mission objectives a little too insular?
After reading them a few times, the focus seems to be on Australian Egyptian Muslims in points 1/2 then expanding slightly to the wider Muslim community in 3/4, with a small touch on connecting to the community.
Unfortunately I cannot make this Fridays meeting due to a work function, if this is most convenient for everyone please go ahead inshallah. Also please note the next few Fridays are not good for me for future meetings. During the week is possible.
Finally, I am attending a meeting chaired by the Attorney General to hear of concerns in our community, are there any pressing local issues (which I presume is the focus) however I do have Burma & Palestine to discuss inshallah
Wassalam
Hany

Salam all,
Thanks for being a part of this process - it still isn't over yet! Inshallah things look bright and inshallah moving towards a refreshing path.
For those that couldn't make it, please find attached minutes - also attached are some of the survey results. If you want more detailed results let me know and I can forward it through.
Meeting 1 (for those that can't remember) was the meeting we held to analyse our strengths and weaknesses and to start discussing who we are and what we are doing.
Meeting 2 and 3 have been included here.
Inshallah next meeting we will be discussing our Values & Principles (which shouldn't be too long as we all know what they are inshallah) and then to knuckle down on our strategic goals and action plan inshallah. So those of who haven't yet attended any of the meetings we would value your input and contribution inshallah.
Next meeting is hopefully this Friday 7pm, please lock it in for now unless things change.
A note to Hany and baba Mohammed - Sahar advised that our new strategic plan should be brought forth to the next AGM inshallah so they can be put into place.
Kind regards,
Assmaah Helal

Salams Youthies,
We have Ahmed Hagagovic visiting Sydney this Thursday and will be in Sydney till Wednesday 12th of Dec. He will be attending our gathering this Saturday and thought if we can manage this event and run the whole night with our touch especially he is young and we need to show him our youthies and activities.
Please note that all the Egyptian media is following him and his trip around the world promoting EGYPT – Peace – Tourism and will be a good opportunity to show him our support for his cause as he is travelling on his own expenses
By the way, Harbour bridge offered him free tickets to walk on the bridge with Egyptian flag on Sunday
Let me know your opinion and feedback

I suggest the following:
1. arrange the hall and have a sense of decoration with Egyptian flags colours.
2. Run an interview by one of youthies and record it.
3. Design a gift or award for him on behalf of the society and youthies for his work for the great cause.
4. Record few minutes from him as a message to the youthies and Egyptians in General in Australia.
5. Inviting everyone, family, friends,etc.... to the event.
6. Assign one of us to sign on his flag on our behalf as he is usually doing.
This is my thoughts J
Also note the society is sponsoring his accommodation in Sydney for the 6 nights
Jazakom Allah khair
