The response in the last 3 days has been amazing! We are now expecting over 150 people, and it is great that many are bringing their families.
It would be appreciated if the Sydneysiders could bring a dish of food as the event is only partially catered, and who knows how many people will turn up at the last minute.
Just a reminder to try and bring the exact money for the entry fee, we are not a retail outlet.

Assalamu Alaikum and Eid Mubarak
There is now a week to go till the first AFIC Youth Camp Reunion and the excitement is building!
We are expecting around 100 people, but I don’t know the exact numbers as many of you have not responded. Thank you to those of you who have confirmed. To those who haven’t confirmed, you should know by now whether you are coming, so please let us know. That way we can make appropriate preparations. Even if you can’t make it, let us know! I need to finalise the numbers this weekend.
I am pleased to inform you that the event is being partially catered, but if you would like to bring a dish of food, it would be appreciated and it will add to the variety on the night. Obviously the brothers and sisters coming from interstate are not expected to bring anything. If any of the interstate attendees need help with travel from the airport or accommodation, please let us know. I am sure that we Sydneysiders would love to help out.
There will be an entry fee of $10 per Adult over 18years. This will cover part of the costs for the evening. Please see the updated flyer attached.
Please keep sending your camp photos to nayyar....@gmail.com. He has a growing compilation, but unless you want to look at pictures of Ahmed Hassan all night ( he has sent in a bunch) , I suggest you send in whatever old photos you have.
We will need some Volunteers.
1. Someone to act as official photographer. Preferably someone with an SLR digital camera and wide angle lens who knows how to use it. There will need to be an official group photo, as well as candid photos taken through the night. Inshallah these photos ,along with the old ones, will be distributed to everyone later.
2. 2 or 3 people to assist Sister Najma Wang at the registration table
3. 5 or 6 people to arrive at the hall at 6pm to help myself, Nayyar Ghaznavi and Mohammed Sabsabi set up things before everyone arrives at 7pm
4. Everyone to help clean up at the end of the night ( unless you have a doctor’s certificate)

Alhumdulillah, the momentum is building. We now have around 80 people confirmed for the AFIC Youth Camp reunion on Saturday 1st September, at 7pm at Granville Town Hall. However, I know of many others who are planning to come but have not confirmed. I am very pleased to inform you that our reunion will take place on Saturday the 1st Sept at 7pm. The venue will be confirmed soon inshallah.
Following is my “11 point road map” – hopefully it will be more successful than Kofi Annan’s
1. Sydney attendees please bring a dish of food and a drink
2. We will organise some “top up” catering of food
3. We need a volunteer to compile photos that we can screen during the night
4. If you have any suitable camp photos, please scan them and email to our photo compiler
5. We need a volunteer (someone from Sydney) to source/hire a projector to project the photos
6. We volunteers to help set up and clean up after
7. Please bring any camp memorabilia – anybody still have t shirts or scarves?
8. We can use the night to perhaps organise a picnic on the Sunday
9. Those who are still around may still want to come to the fundraising dinner on Sunday night
10. I need people to start confirming, as we need definite numbers for catering etc
11. There will have to be a small charge to cover the costs of hiring the hall, equipment and catering. I will know what this is when we have definite numbers, the more who come the cheaper it should be
Can’t wait. There are still more people to contact/ track down.
