Salam guys,

Silence is Betrayal, a unique advocacy movement, is seeking sponsorship for a unique event bringing out Harry Fear, lived in Palestine reported on the current atrocities. Silence is Betrayal raisea wareness about issues around the world through unique mediums. One example was the flash mob they performed in circular quay about Syria, look it upon YouTube.

Anyway find proposal attached. Is this something that aligns with our goals to support? Do we even have enough funding?

Apparently they have a large following, like 3000 on Facebook. It'd be a good way to reach out or make ourselves know to the wider community. But then, would we only be seen as sponsors? Should we rather focus on our strategy and developing programs for our target audience?

I hope to respond to her tomorrow or Tuesday, would like to hear your thoughts.

Personally i think it's a great initiative... I like the fact that he is promoting the idea of a peace between the two sides ( even though neither side wants it) Sending this message of 'peace being the only solution' is vital for the masses to back & support. As opposed to always just hating on one side forever with a never ending crisis.

Apologies for delay in response. 

There are many great causes all in need of funding. 

To consider each in isolation is not practical, we would quickly churn through funds. 

We will not be able to support all causes therefore to take the guess work and many emails each time a request comes through suggest we create a budget of both outgoings and fundraising of our own. We need to be accountable as its Muslim funds that carry a greater responsibility. 

Can I ask Islam, Mohamed, Hossam, Assmaah & Sheri to gather the current requests to review collectively. 

I would be in favour of supporting $500 however I would request they confirm with which Aid organisation they will collaborate. 

We have a duty to know to whom these funds are going and how so we each have a clear conscience inshallah. 

Sorry to be difficult or create additional work however believe its necessary.

Thanks for the response Hany. I completely agree. And in saying that, the priority should be sorting out the percentage per year before we donate this time around.

To be honest I think the funds go toward hosting the speaker. I will double check.

So costs will cover the event... Flights accomodation venue expenses etc.

They will raise funds on the night that will go directly to Palestine. But the money we sponsor will go to the event.
