Thanks, Adam. Steven (who is GWP Head of Communications) will come back to you re the blog you wrote.
We will see you at the World Water Forum, where the GWP Chair, Letitia Obeng, will be chairing the Youth Parliament.
Alex is organizing a key event on water and climate change within the Africa Day at WWF, on behalf of AMCOW and GWP. See the attached report which will be published in time for WWF (T9 on Climate Change, attached). The “key messages from COP17” which you have asked for are nicely summarized, on page 28. It also includes milestones to COP18.
You could plan to organize a side meeting (can be informal) of the YOUNGO water group at WWF, to meet with GWP people there. Please encourage all the organizations that are part of the water group to become GWP Partners in their own right. We are currently developing a youth strategy and see the climate-related youth groups as a key part of this.
The “zero draft” for Rio (attached) is really very good generally, and also specifically where it relates to water – it contains most of what we wanted to see included. We are now undertaking a detailed analysis of it, which I can send you shortly (together with our roadmap preparing for Rio).
All the best,
Ania

Hi Ania, Simon, and Alex,
Thanks. I haven't published this anywhere. I just wrote it for myself, and because you asked for a blog. I'd love to keep "walking together" on climate change and water with you, Alex, and Simon. Representatives from our YOUNGO water group are definitely going to be at Rio. I am trying to find a way to get accreditation myself. I seem to be taking on a leadership role within this group, and I care a lot about water issues, so I am really hoping to be able to come!
Yes, I am involved in youth input for Rio. We are currently preparing for the World Water Forum, which happens much sooner, but we are definitely going to start prioritizing Rio. I have placed all of these things in the agenda for our next conference call, as well as a consensus-based institutional decision on joining the GWP.
We would love to see how we can work together at Rio, and prepare for that now so we can hit the ground running.
Do you have any information that you could send me on the following?
1)Your assessment of water outcomes from COP 17. ie, what progress was made, what was put in the text, what you hope for the future
2) your main goals, related to text and policy, for RIO+20
We really want to see these!
3) Smaller goals or tactics you are considering to help achieve these main goals
In this, especially, we may be able to plug in and work together.
Good luck, and I look forward to hearing from you soon!
Best,
Adam Greenberg

P.S. In case this information is relevant to any of you, the youth coordinator of the World Water Forum has asked me to serve as the link between the WWF and the UNFCCC. This might have some strategic importance as we look to bridge or take advantage of similarities in the agendas of the two bodies.

Hi Adam
Thanks for the blog – excellent stuff. Where did this get published? Let´s keep moving together on climate change and water. Please also stay in touch with Alex and Simon (in copy). They´ll be working on the technical workshop with UNFCCC and other issues. Personally I have to focus now on preparation for Rio+20. Are you involved in youth input for that as well?
The water group can join GWP as a Partner only if it is an organization. When you apply through the GWP website, you will be assessed in the usual process. I don´t know your institutional set-up : if you are an informal group, it´s unlikely it will be approved.
Keep in touch, all the best,
Ania

Hey Ania,
Sorry it took me so long to get this to you. Here is one of my musings (blogs) on water in Durban.
I also want to talk with you about joining the GWP. We have approval from YOUNGO to join, if it's possible to join just as the water group, not as YOUNGO as a whole. This is what you had in mind, correct?
I am running out the door just now, but I look forward to talking with you about this.
Best,
