Dear friends and partners around the world,

WAGGGS has launched the consultation on 'the world we want for our future'

There is nothing like helping to save the planet to celebrate the beginning of a New Year J Even if in your country the New Year doesn’t start in a few days, please take the time to join ‘the world we want for our future’ consultation and to promote it intensely to other youth activists and youth groups.

The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) is consulting children and young people around the world to find out what positive change needs to happen to ensure that young and future generations will be able to live happy, healthy and sustainable lives. We want to know how the world should look like in the decades to come to ensure that all children and youth, but especially girls and young women, can develop their full potential as responsible citizens of the world.

3 steps to take part

  1. Download the guidelines and run the exercises and discussions with a group of children or young people
  2. Record the outcome of the discussion on the report sheet
  3. Enter the information on the result sheet into the online survey available from mid February to 23 March 2012.

Deadline for submitting consultation results is 23 March 2012.

This consultation on 'the world we want for our future' will be part of several of our Movement's advocacy activities, such as the upcoming UN Conference on Sustainable development 'Rio+20' in June 2012 in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, discussions on what should follow the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) as a global framework for development and our current WAGGGS World Thinking Day campaign 'we can save our planet' which focuses on MDG 7 - environmental sustainability.

Find out more about the consultation and how it will be conducted.
