Hi everyone

We have been in touch with the gender group and they gave me some
feedback on the sorts of issues they want to be looking at. I'm
pasting the message below... can people feedback on...
1,ideas for how do we try to work on these issues and
2, are ther issues the same for girls/young women or is there other
work we need to be doing?

Look forward to hearing from you all soon!

gender caucus issues:
regarding gender language, we need to struggle to maintain or
consolidate what we have (women's rights, gender sensitive adaptation
and REDD etc.), and, moreover, try to get it into mitigation, tech
transfer and in particular financing. Fresh ideas are welcome, in
particular how to integrate gender criteria into funding. Gender
balance of newly created bodies is not enough.

and I believe we need to go beyond gender language, and work on the
substance. at the moment, I see primarily issues where we need to
struggle to avoid very negative outcomes, eg. on agriculture, REDD,
including the definition of forests (which includes plantations), and
the threat of inclusion of risky technologies into mechanisms
(nuclear, CSS, geoengineering).

Katy I've been trying to look it over but I don't understand the shortening. What is REDD?

It's an abbreviation for "Reducing Emissions from Deforestation and
Forest Degradation". REDD+ is one of the major things that COP16 is
hoped to give some decisions about. (more info for example here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/REDD)

The Jargon buster in the Media Kit 1 is very helpful when it comes to
the thousands of abbreviations that the UNFCCC work includes ;) You
can find it here: http://unfccc.int/media/items/5757.php
