Hello Friends!

WISH YOU ALL A HAPPY, PEACEFUL AND JOYFUL NEW YEAR -2009!

Let’s get together Unite for Justice, Peace and Rights.

So friends, here is a piece of exciting information for all of us for the New Year – to take our passion forward!

During our 4-day Youth for Social Action Camp held in Jan 2008 at Bangalore, there was a demand from many of you for deeper insights on Dalit Rights. NCDHR has promised to provide their expertise for a two-day workshop on Dalit Rights.

The Venue for this workshop is AICUF Ashram, in Bhopal

The dates: 5th and 6th Feb 2009.

You will have to report by 4th evening.

Those who participated in the previous camp will be given preference.

The workshop will host not more than 80 youth. Therefore please send your confirmations as soon as you receive this mail.

The participants would have to bear their own travel expenses. The lodging and boarding will be supported by the organizers.

Most important: The workshop is expected to cover a wide range of topics – from “Role of Caste and Untouchability Practices in the Present Day life of Dalits, including gender rights - to -Atrocities and the  relevant Constitutional Safeguards, Legislations and the role of Judiciary, Human Rights Mechanisms etc to deal with that – to -  issues relating to Land, Livelihood, Education, Employment, Housing, Health, Water etc., etc. and the role of Caste, and the whole question of Reservation.

NCDHR will be preparing the schedule.

Please let us know if you have any specific expectations out of this workshop – so that we may be able incorporate it in this planning stage itself.

Please call or email/write if you have any querries (e-mail : inter...@ncasindia.org)

Awaiting an early, quick reply.

In solidarity,

Prasanna

Dear Workshop Co-ordinator

I Mihir Bhonsale, Intern NCAS (2007-09) would hereby like to confirm my participation in the Dalit Rights workshop to be held in Bhopal on 5th and 6th February. I am currently based in Kolkata as part of my NCAS Internship programme with an Environmental Group named DISHA (Society for Direct Initiative for Social and Health Action). I have booked my tickets from Kolkata for 2nd of February and would be reaching Bhopal on 3rd evening. There are no trains plying on 3rd as the trains run only on Monday and Wenesday between Kolkata to Bhopal. Pls. note the same and let me know if I could avail the accomodation facility of the workshop from 3rd night itself.
Looking forward for an enriching two day event.
Regards
Mihir
