It pays to know your basic rights and not be bullied or intimidated by the police. Print out and keep the notes for easy reference or retrieval. You will never know (touch wood) when you, your family members, relatives, friends and colleagues may need them. Better be prepared than experience the fear of not knowing your basic rights when accosted by the police!
The redbook is endorsed by the Bar Council of Malaysia.
Better still, disseminate the redbook to all your friends and relatives just in case they are not aware of their basic rights.
The best advice – stay out of trouble! Life is short and should be enjoyed to the fullest every moment. There is no necessity to get entangled on the wrong side of the law.
But I know all of you are law abiding citizens and will continue to be so. So keep it up always!
