Does your child IGNORE YOU?  It's past the middle of the Summer! Are you settling in to your Summer routine or are you focused only on the future and Fall? One of the best feedback comments I have been getting from the Purposeful Parenting Class is; the simplicity of parenting with easy do-able tools to use ASAP!  One of my favorite tools to share today is for when you want your child to listen the first time you speak... (any age and works for spouses too) Check yourself: Are you calm, do you have a clear request for your child. KEEP IT SIMPLE Go to your child, look at them in the eyes and speak. After they hear you give them at least 5 seconds to process what you said Observe This may seem annoying or tedious, but speaking to a child across the room with a tone of voice that is not loving, doesn't work. This leads to no results and a child that is disconnected.  This is a practice to do MOST days, at least once, it will feel really good to connect in this way - for you and for your child.
