The Beautiful Truth By Ambika Collins

Parents have immense power to influence their children through the words they choose to say and the actions they choose to do. However, the power of the unseen and the unheard is greater. For all that is seen and heard has its creative source in silent, invisible thoughts, emotions, belief systems, judgments and agendas.

Children unconsciously absorb more from the inner state of parents than from what their parents say and do. If parents hate work, their children are inoculated with a dose of unconscious hatred of work. If parents don’t value play and fun, then children are likely to grow into adults who are afraid to enjoy life. If parents are unhappy in a marriage but stay together “for the children,” their children are likely to become adults who limit themselves and suffer in the same way. If parents are afraid of making mistakes, their children will likely be unwilling to take the calculated risks necessary to grow and succeed in life.

When parents understand how all outer events, words and deeds are born from an inner world of thought, they also begin to recognize their responsibility to monitor their thoughts and change them as needed to create the reality they desire for themselves and their children. The good news about all this is that changing a formless thought or belief is easy and accomplished in an instant. Intention is all that is needed.

Parents have an advantage over non-parents on the inner, self-evolutionary path, because children are constantly enacting the outer forms of their parents’ thoughts. In this way, children become teachers to their parents. Through their feelings, actions and words, children provide their parents with information about what parents need to change within themselves in order to be beneficent, effective teachers to their children.

Authenticity and congruency are prerequisites for entering the path of self-evolution that leads to self-enlightenment and responsible use of the creative power of thought. Authenticity is developed by searching within for the thoughts and beliefs at the source of one’s actions and recognizing their existence, even when they are thoughts we would rather not think of ourselves as having. So, pride must be dropped and humble honesty with self and others acquired in order to travel the inner, self-evolutionary path.

Congruency develops out of self-authenticity and becomes established when inner thoughts are in alignment with outer words and deeds. This alignment brings a harmony to life that makes everything easier and more joyful for both parents and children. The inner drag from the resistance between disharmonious inner and outer realities decreases, resulting in an increase in vitality, stamina and enthusiasm for life.

As parents grow in authenticity and congruency, in harmonious relationship between the unconscious and the conscious, they also create and give this to their children as an inner legacy, a foundation that will always serve them well.

The beautiful truth of all this reflects the utter beneficence of Source-God, of Universal Intelligence. For the work of self-evolution is also the path of truth, love and joy. The work of parents is not to deny themselves “for the children” but to make their own lives increasingly congruent, hence deeply satisfying and enjoyable. When congruency and parenthood combine, loving and responsible care for one’s children is not separate from loving and responsible care for oneself.
