Dear LJ,
Thank you for your email. We are looking forward to receiving some updates regarding the World Leaders Conference. We contacted our colleagues regarding the three upcoming children and youth conferences taking place between July and November 2011, that you shared with us in your previous emails and indeed, UNEP is involved in all three activities. Please see below to have an idea of our involvement in the three conferences:
1. World Leadership Conference, Singapore, 13-15 July 2011 (Asia-Pacific: Towards Rio +20, youth-led initiative by ECO. We are looking forward to further discussions regarding the inclusion of the YXC Initiative in this conference. Please let us know how you would like to proceed, in terms of holding a capacity building and training workshop on YXC and sustainable lifestyles.
2. UNEP Tunza Regional Children’s Conference (3-6 October 2011, South Africa). This conference is being organized by our colleagues in the Children and Youth Unit at our headquarters in Nairobi, Kenya. Sustainable Consumption and Green/Sustainable Lifestyles are one of the themes for this year’s conference and we are therefore working with our colleagues to provide feedback regarding workshops and presentations. We hope to integrate YXC in this conference.
3. First Annual Generation Earth Youth Summit (23-25 November 2011, South Africa). UNEP is co-organizing this conference with Generation Earth SA. We are waiting for more details regarding this conference later in the summer.
Please let us know when would be a convenient time for you so we can discuss our potential involvement in the World Leadership Conference, as well as the regarding possible YXC guidebook for Asia.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Khairoon

Dear LJ,
Thank you for your email and for sharing the information regarding the upcoming World Leadership Conference in Singapore this July. I was very pleased to meet you in NY and I’m looking forward to discussing UNEP’s potential involvement in this conference, especially from a YouthXchange perspective, perhaps we could schedule a call later this week or early next week to brainstorm our involvement.
As you know, the YouthXchange (YXC) initiative focuses on promoting sustainable lifestyles among young people (15-24) through education, dialogue, awareness raising and capacity building by working with educators, non-governmental organizations, trainers and youth leaders around the world. YXC reaches young people through YXC training and capacity building activities undertaken by our partners in 45 countries, with the support of the YXC training kit on sustainable consumption (translated into more than 20 languages) as well as the YXC bilingual (En/Fr) website. The training kit provides information, ideas, tips and good practices on topics such as sustainable consumption, lifestyles, mobility, waste reduction, energy and resource efficiency, smart and responsible shopping and so forth. When guidebooks are translated, partners adapt the content to include 50% local case studies and 50% local pictures.
It would be good to start exploring the possibilities of a localized YXC guidebook for Asia as you suggested, one that will highlight Asian case studies on sustainable lifestyles. We could start by contacting Mr. Park and express our interest of creating this new guidebook and see if we can build a possible partnership. I’ve attached a document outlining the YXC partnership process, to give you an idea of how it works.
I’m copying my colleague, Khairoon Abbas, who works with me on the YXC initiative. Please feel free to follow up with both of us regarding the partnership process and any other YXC-related matters.
We look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,
Fabienne & Khairoon

Dear Fabienne,
It was great to meet you! We are excited and looking forward to further discussions about potential collaborations for the UNEP Youth Exchange Programme.
Referring to below email, pls find information on the World Leadership Conference by ECO Singapore in mid-July.
As mentioned, Mr. Park, the UNEP regional director is the featured guest speaker. Perhaps together, we can check with him what his plans are? And then discuss further how best we can organize something for the localized "guidebook"? e.g. have a brainstorming workshop?
Oh, and do let me know if you would like more information on the Commons. =)
