Hi everyone!

With COP16 rapidly approaching, the YOUNGO constituency have a lot of new volunteer positions that need to be filled. We're sending out the call to the youth climate movement to find the amazing people to take on these roles!

Youth and Future Generations Day was a great success at COP15. The message of 'the youth are here and we care' was very well communicated. However, with a relatively short timeframe left to organise YoFuGe Day, we now need some fantastic volunteers to ensure that this message becomes more explicit - what do the youth want? - and to ensure that YoFuGe day is as successful, if not more, than last year!

Youth and Future Generations Day positions

YoFuGe Day Coordinator

This position is all about getting YoFuGe Day up and running. We need to ensure we have a good message, content to back that up, a visual impact, and a media presence. The YoFuGe Day Coordinator would work towards making this happen.

What exactly would the YoFuGe Day Coordinator do?

  • Ensure that the date for YoFuGe Day is well publicised
  • Collect suggestions from YOUNGO on ideas for YoFuGe day.
  • Ensure the YOUNGO side events on YoFuGe are co-ordinated and well-prepared; involves communication with relevant organisations and working with them on issues in logistics. (For example food was also presented as important organisational problem last year)
  • Organising t-shirts or other similar visual props
  • Investigate the logistics of holding events such as Intergenerational Inquiry again.
  • Ensure widespread awareness of YoFuGe day, by;
    • Sending out press releases to media, and in other ways ensuring awareness amongst the media
    • Confirming that youth media/comms people for each YOUNGO are aware of the importance and priority of YoFuGe day,
    • Ensuring that YOUNGO members know exactly the aims and activities of YoFuGe day is (perhaps by preparing a small information pack or flyer)
  • Give regular updates to the Bottomliner team on their progress

This Coordinator should definitely be well organised. The person filling this role will definitely need to be going to COP16.

Yep - sounds like a lot, but don't worry! This Coordinator will be working with a team of other YoFuGe Day volunteers who'll be helping them out a lot with all these tasks.

YoFuGe Day Volunteers

As YoFuGe Day is one of the YOUNGO constituency's most important events, we really need a team of dedicated volunteers to work with the Coordinator to make this happen. What are some of the things these volunteers will be doing?

  • Helping co-ordinate media contacts and promoting media awareness of YoFuGe Day
  • Help publicise the aims and activities of YoFuGe day amongst YOUNGOs
  • Organising logistics of side-events and other YoFuGe activities
  • Performing magic on a regular basis (probably)

It is definitely preferable that people on the YoFuGe Day team are going to COP16, but if you aren't and you'd still like to help out, please email anyway!

So, working on YoFuGe Day sounds good to you?

If you'd like to be involved with this team, send Hilary an email with a short paragraph on why you'd be good at it, at hilary...@youthclimatecoalition.org! (Please don't reply to the whole list!)

This is one of many positions currently available. For a full list of other available roles, please email Hilary (hilary...@youthclimatecoalition.org) or Kyle (kyleg...@sustainus.org)
