Gmail has become our secondary ID for most of us on the interwebs today, serving as our go-to platform for both personal and professional communication. Losing access to our Gmail account can be a distressing experience, as it hampers your ability to connect with contacts and access important emails and data.

And sometimes, the situation becomes even more complex when you encounter difficulties in reaching the phone number or recovery email associated with your account. But you can skip the freak out phase!

Add a phone number and recovery email to your Google account to avoid future password recovery troubles. If you have similar problems in the future, restoring access to your report will be simpler, thanks to these extra recovery alternatives. Take these steps:

To add another level of protection during the password recovery procedure, Google allows users to create security questions. You may more quickly authenticate your identity and obtain access to your account by providing accurate answers to these questions.

Your Gmail account has an additional degree of protection thanks to two-factor authentication. When signing in, you must provide your password and a second verification number if you use 2FA. This code is usually created by an authenticator app or transmitted by SMS to your mobile device. The extra authentication step that 2FA demands makes it far more difficult for unauthorized users to access your account.

Ensure the recovery email address and phone number linked to your Gmail account are current and correct. If you forget your password, you may use these recovery alternatives to get back into your account. Check and update your contact information in your Google account settings often to make sure it is accurate.

Never share or keep your password in a location where it is readily accessible. Use a password manager, which securely saves your passwords and enables you to create and maintain robust, individual passwords for several accounts. Password managers provide access to an encrypted vault where you may store your passwords, offering additional security against unwanted access.

A "breach" is an incident where data has been unintentionally exposed to thepublic. Using the 1Password password managerhelps you ensure all your passwords are strong and unique such that a breach of one servicedoesn't put your other services at risk.

A paste is information that has been published to apublicly facing website designed to share content and is often an early indicator of a databreach. Pastes are automatically imported and often removed shortly after having beenposted. Using the 1Password password managerhelps you ensure all your passwords are strong and unique such that a breach of one servicedoesn't put your other services at risk.

You've just been sent a verification email, all you need to do now is confirm youraddress by clicking on the link when it hits your mailbox and you'll be automaticallynotified of future pwnage. In case it doesn't show up, check your junk mail and ifyou still can't find it, you can always repeat this process.

Alternatively, you can try to reset your mail.com password by going to our reset password site and following the instructions there. A link will be sent to your saved contact email address or cell phone number that will allow you to change your password.

I recently was looking into how to access email passwords for someone I was working with when I discovered that there was no visible way to access these under iOS 15. When I go to the "Settings" > "Passwords" screen, the only thing that appears is "Autofill Passwords" and "Security Recommendations". No email accounts or passwords. This information used to show under the individual accounts screen under the "Mail" section. Nothing is showing there as well. So if I had to change a password for some reason on my iPhone or iPad, how do I go about doing it?

There is nothing in the Accounts section. That is where it used to be. You would open an account and there would be a "Incoming Mail Server" section that had your user name and password. That no longer exists. This might have been changed with iOS14, I am not sure. The only way it appears you can do this is actually re-add the user name and password information in this new Passwords section. Why this was not done automatically when the upgrade to the newer version was installed, I don't know. But if someone wants to change their email password, they are going to have an interesting time trying to figure out how to do it. A lot of the documentation out there still refers to the old set up method.

Okay, everywhere it says that email passwords should be at: settings - account and password - said account. They are NOT there for IOS 14. "Passwords" relates only to websites. "Accounts" has everything but passwords to said accounts. There doesn't seem to be any other place. Yahoo is about to close down my access unless I change the password, but I cannot find it. Can anyone assist?

I have ios 14.1 on iphone 11 and am trying to re-enter email password as requested by the phone. When I go to settings there is no 'Mail' choice. When I search for 'mail' in settings the only thing that comes up is Mail under apple ID, which gets me nowhere. I've spent over an hour looking for mail>accounts and can't find it. Please point me in the right direction. Thanks

When I tap on the Yahoo account, it opens - that gives me a choice of tapping on "Account" with the email address. I open that. There are two places there that can be tapped - SMTP and Advanced. None of these options opens to a password location. This is driving me nuts. Why do they keep "fixing" what isn't broken????

When you open account as you described, just above SMTP and Advanced you should see a block titled Incoming Mail Server, and that should have Host Name, User Name and Password. You would need to change Password there for incoming. Then tap SMTP and where it shows Primary Server, if that is the Yahoo server, tap on it, and it will open a block titled Outgoing Mail Server. There are the same settings there and you should see Password. That is the password for the SMTP or Outgoing server.

As you can see from the photo above, I don't see the email and password authentication option. It is missing in my Firebase tool. I am trying to create a login and log out activity sample app and I wanted to use the email and password authentication option, but it is not here at all. Anyone knows where can I find it/ enable it?

These are only shortcuts and not showing all authentication optionsJust connect your project with firebase and add dependencies from this toolbar and enable Email authentication from the firebase console in your browser.

Same for me. Turns out I used oauth instead of email+password and completely forgot about that. So, after dozens of attempts to recover my password I sign up with google account and the problem was solved.

Same was happening to me guys. Make sure to try signing in THROUGH google, not by typing in your email address. This was the issue for me, as when I tried to send password to email there would be no response because I never set up a password, just signed in through google. Good luck.

I think I'm going crazy! My Outlook keeps popping up asking me to add my IMAP password (which I have no idea what it is), and my emails are not updating. I haven't changed anything to my knowledge and this is happening on both my phone and laptop. I keep being sent to Microsoft 365 to update the password which I have done and then realised I have another Outlook in Microsoft from years ago which I do not use. I need to find the IMAP password for the Outlook I do want to use as it's my business email but Outlook don't seem to have any contact details. Does anyone have any experience with this before I go mad? Really appreciate if anyone has any ideas at all? Many thanks

@RebeccaS50, first, check your email provider's requirements. Some providers, like Google and Microsoft, necessitate the use of app passwords instead of regular ones for email clients like Outlook. Visit your provider's website for instructions on obtaining an app password.

You can also try disabling and re-enabling your email account within Outlook by right-clicking your account, going to Account Settings, and choosing Disable, then Enable after a few seconds. Additionally, under the Security tab, you can uncheck "Always prompt for login credentials" in File > Account Settings > Account Settings > More Settings > Security.

Additional advice - test your email account through the web interface to isolate the issue to Outlook and if problems persist, use the Microsoft Support and Recovery Tool to diagnose and resolve Outlook issues.

This issue seem to also affect me on the new outlook client. It has happened after adding in a DNS verification entry to my own domain (which is also the primary account for outlook, but managed external to Microsoft).

I checked all of the setup on the email accounts I have, and it was all as expected and specified by the Hosting Domain, every time I restarted New Outlook, It would prompt for the Primary account password, and go through the account setup for it. For the time being I have reverted to the previous outlook client.
