My dear friends,
I'm so very grateful to all who were involved in our trip to the Kent Messenger Group last Monday, which stretched to a stint in the Kent FM broadcasting booth with their drive-time DJ, and pizza after with their executive chairman.
Now next up - next Friday, the 15th, the St Bride's choir very kindly will give the Young Stationers a choral tour round the Fleet Street church of printers and journalists, and then afterwards, the director of the St Bride's Foundation letting us have a go getting ink on ourselves and printing presses, and seeing their archival treasures.
Do please pop along! It all starts at 6:45 for 7 pm on the 15th, beginning with wine in the back of the church, and eventually concluding in the Foundation's bar. And a snip at £35, all of which goes to keeping these two noble institutions afloat. We'd very much love to have you join us. Apply within.
Meanwhile, planning proceeds apace on our coming dinner in Oxford, with the Society of Young Publishers, in the clerk's former college during his year as Oxford's High Sheriff, and various speakers, tours, and bits round OUP and Blackwells also. Ditto on our Young Stationers' Prize, which will recognise promise and early achievement in the journalism, publishing, printing, paper, and digital trades by persons under 40. Watch this space and do please let me know if you might fancy being involved!
With all very best wishes,
Pádraig
